About the company
Symcel is a Swedish medtech company, based at Karolinska Institute in Solna. In our modern facilities we have sales, marketing, labs, production and both product and application development.
Symcel is home to a mix of business drivers and scientists, all with the common aim to bring our technology to use for tackling some of the world’s most acute health issues, including antibiotic resistance and metabolic diseases. We are a highly educated and international team of around 15 people, out of which 11 are full-time employees. Our work language is English.
We provide customers in academia and industry with a unique tool for real-time in-vitro measurements on cell metabolism, enabling a wide range of new assays for both basic research and drug development.

About the position
You will be part of the production team for manufacturing, servicing, and developing advanced medtech measurement equipment. The role includes hands-on work with the construction and assembly of instruments, issue handling, and developing products with prototyping and testing.
You will be part of a team coordinating internal and external efforts in mechanics, electronics, and software. Documentation and quality assurance are essential aspects of the role and should be conducted in parallel with the continuous work.
The role includes customer contact and support both online and on-site, which means regular travelling in Sweden, the EU, and the US throughout the year. You will, over time, become responsible for on-site and online, scheduled and on-demand service of our products.
About you
You are an engaging, thorough, and proactive person, interested in working with technology and using your social skills. This role entails a lot of technical work; therefore, we see you as a someone who likes to be on your feet and work actively in production and with customers requiring service and support.
You have a genuine interest in practical tasks and assembly, you are passionate about development with a good sense for the technology and seeing the bigger picture. You are currently working hands-on with either production, product development or technical service. The work demands that you are proactive and a problem-solver. You enjoy finding solutions to things and are structured in your work.
We also believe you are flexible as a person and can adapt to the rapid changes and demands inherent to a startup company's nature. You can work independently and in a group.
Requirements:
Academic degree in engineering, preferably within mechanical, medical, or electrical engineering
>5 year experience in production/manufacturing
Critical-thinking, problem-solving, and time-management skills
Goal-driven and proactive personality
Able to travel at least 3-4 days monthly
Driver’s license (B)
Meriting:
Medtech/biotech/IVD experience
Cad, 3D design
QA/regulatory experience
Supply chain management
Controlled development
Electrical circuit design
Programming (e.g., C++, java, python)
