We are looking for an Engineering Development Leader to lead continuous development to reach excellence within engineering as a key enabler for IKEA business and people goals. This in order to enable high performing products on all perspectives of Democratic Design (i.e. Form, Function, Sustainability, Quality and Price). The position evolves around identifying, prioritizing, and collaborating on engineering initiatives in the areas of competence development, ways of working and requirements for tools needed to ensure efficient product development and world class engineering. You will also be involved in setting the future of IKEA product information, related to both supplier and customer interaction.
The Engineering Development Leader is responsible for:
-Developing mid and long term plan for engineering capabilities based on IKEA strategies.
-Communicating and anchoring the plan with relevant managers and stakeholders throughout the IKEA value chain.
-Leading the execution of actions based on the plan, including follow up and adjustments in plans and actions.
-Managing and leading engineering specialist roles (within Matrix organisation) and securing competence.
-Lead one specialist engineering network in the Business areas.
-Act as grandfather when it comes to recruitment of key positions within engineering.
-Defining, giving input on, and supporting the development of learning initiatives to fill competence gaps.
-Setting requirements and deciding on suitable tools for the organization and improvements in these to make the necessary movements within engineering
-Developing ways of working needed for the engineering roles at IKEA of Sweden.
-Participating in IKEA global networks to build and align ?one IKEA? approach within Engineering
-Participating in external networks for benchmarking and enhance knowledge within engineering area.
-Acting as subject matter expert in projects related to engineering.
To be successful in this role, you must have:
-A minimum of five years of leading engineering professionals in a global setting.
-Solid IKEA knowledge, or the willingness to acquire it eagerly
-Stand behind our vision of creating better everyday life for the many
-Deep knowledge within engineering, from hands-on to strategic approach.
-Experience in project management and process development, leading change for technical product development.
-Solid experience in mechanical engineering tools and methodologies.
-Connected to engineering trends, developments and new technologies when it comes to competence development, ways of working and tools. Paired with the ability to take these from theory to implementation and a strong drive to follow up and improve.
-Experience in Product Lifecycle Management solutions
-Great networker and inspiring communicator
-University degree in engineering or equivalent knowledge acquired elsewhere.
-Fluent in English, spoken and written.
