Vattenfall/ BA Heat/ OU Heat Projects develops and implements all of Vattenfall’s new-build CHP and heating plant projects. The Engineering Department – within OU Heat Projects – consists of an international team of highly qualified engineers from different disciplines. Engineering is responsible for the development and execution of projects. A selected project team of engineers manages the execution processes and coordinates the installation, commissioning and hand-over of the new plants to the future operator in consultation with the stakeholders. In addition, the engineering department supports the projects with schedule preparation, investment cost estimation and quality management.
Vattenfall has decided to convert the generation of electricity and district heating to fossil-free generation within one generation (Power Climate Smarter Living). In this context, the Engineering Department is deepening continuously its knowledge and experience with innovative technologies (P2G, P2H, H2 technologies, CO2-capture and storage or utilization, heat pumps, etc.).
In order to support the development and implementation of our technical activities in an extensive project portfolio, we are looking for the following person for Vattenfall AB Värme Norden, Uppsala.

Engineering Manager
The position is to be filled for an undetermined period of time.

Your tasks
Independent set-up and control of an engineering team within projects (engineering management)
Implementation and coordination of construction projects in connection with process engineering/power plant-specific tasks
Preparation of project phase-dependent documents (Requirement Specifications, Feasibility Studies, Basis of Design, Basic Design Package, ITTs, etc.)
Preparation of cost estimates
Participation in project meetings, negotiations, evaluation of bids and preparation of award recommendations
Ensuring quality assurance and quality control during the planning, tendering, construction and operation phases
Selecting and specifying plant components in accordance with international regulations and standards as well as internal Vattenfall standards
Participation in inter-project and inter-departmental exchanges of experience
Preparation of meeting reports and presentations
In this role, you report to the Project Manager within a project and to the Manager Execution Engineering, be a sparring partner for the project manager and the rest of the project management team
Using “people Skills” to build and motivate engineering teams.


Your profile
Degree in process engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering or power plant engineering and at least 5 years of professional experience in planning and project management.
Experience in the operation of heating and combined heat and power plants is an advantage
Your professional skills include a sound knowledge of power plant-specific processes in heat generation plants as well as the interface of generation plants to district heating networks, experience on CCS is a plus
Your personal competencies include leadership qualities and excellent analytical skills
You work in a structured manner, are self-initiated and have good communication skills
Good focus on safety and safety in design
You have a very good command of Swedish and English
You have experience in planning and engineering processes as well as in teamwork, including cultural sensitivity
Working on interdisciplinary topics and interfaces with other departments are obligatory for you
Travelling is not a problem for you.
