Observability is key to building a quality product, helping the business move fast and resolving issues as soon as possible. The team is responsible for designing, building and running a comprehensive observability stack for a diverse range of products and architectures. In addition, this team leads the charge on defining good observability practices company wide and making it easier to build a better product.

This role is within our Global Online Experience (GOX) organization, which is using digital technologies to reinvent the experience of becoming, and being, a Volvo customer. You will work with an extraordinary DevOps/Monitoring engineering management challenge, bringing together software engineering and product development, operations management, and team leadership in a single high-value role.
You will lead a site reliability engineering team in an agile environment building solutions, cultivating a learning culture and developing a diverse and inclusive team of engineers to solve problems which oftentimes have not been solved anywhere.
Who you are:
You are someone who has demonstrated experience building highly scalable platforms and fault tolerant systems across a range of technologies, including Linux, Apache, MongoDB, Python, Oracle RDBMS, Redis, Postgres and open tracing. As a SRE manager you have Track record of building and managing high-performance SRE teams.
What you’ll do:
You will manage a team of Service Reliability Engineers located locally and abroad while still providing direct, on-keyboard impact. You’ll solve problems related to complex cloud-infrastructure automation, multi-region networking, authentication/authorization, logging/metrics collection at scale. To provide tooling and frameworks for engineering teams for transaction tracing, performance analysis, business monitoring and alerting.
Lead/contribute to engineering efforts from design to implementation, solving complex technical challenges around supervising distributed systems at scale. Drive adoption of standard methodologies in monitoring, alerting, and performance.Work closely with development teams to implement monitoring & observability instrumentation within their platforms.
Qualifications
* Bachelors in Computer Science, related field, or equivalent work experience.
* Distributed Systems Development (e.g. asynchronous communication patterns, consensus algorithms, distributed transactions).
* Atleast 5+ years of services programming (e.g. Go-lang, Java, Kotlin, Scala, Clojure, Python, Ruby).
* 3+ years of experience with monitoring and alerting systems (Prometheus, Thanos).
* Experience designing and building reliable systems at scale.
* Deep knowledge of Linux based systems.
* Experience with distributed tracing systems, metrics and log management.
* At least 3 years’ experience with Container Orchestration (Kubernetes).
* Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills.
* Experience with IAAC (Terraform, CDK, Pulumi, CloudFormation).
