We are looking for a people centric leader who is excited about building value driven digital products for our customers by leading and inspiring high performing teams.
WHAT DO YOU BECOME A PART OF?
In Explore, we are at the beginning stages of a new approach to product recommendations. A joint effort between two teams will spear-head the work on providing relevant recommendations across the customer journey, in all our digital channels. One team is focusing on the customer experience, closely exploring our customer’s and business needs. The second team is responsible for developing, operating and providing recommender models at scale. / changed place
Our capability area Explore is a part of a larger organisation Customer Domain. In Explore we are focusing on Content Management, Inspiration & Exploration. We are moving into an omni-channel landscape, connecting with customers, co-workers and systems in our many stores and in our app & web experiences.
There is now an opportunity to join these two teams as Engineering Manager and by that lead an exciting part of the future IKEA. Both teams are highly autonomous with a strong focus on providing customer value and a goal to provide a personal customer experience leveraging the vast knowledge and experience in home furnishing that IKEA has accumulated over the past seven decades.
We work cross functional, and you collaborate with others in the engineering network in achieving our common goals.


WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
Your energy is generated by leading and developing people. Through your previous experience you know how to build and grow agile software development teams as well as an engineering culture allowing continuous learning through mistakes and innovation. Since you will lead by example, you are a passionate coder and have hands-on experience from building and improving products but lately you have shifted your focus to leading, coaching, motivating and developing teams and team members.
You have knowledge in following areas:
• Extensive knowledge of software engineering practices such as BDD, TDD, test automation, DevOps, code versioning, with knowledge and experience of using industry standard toolsets
• Knowledge of design and architecture concepts (i.e. microservices), especially within the cloud space at scale, and ability to apply knowledge within the development cycle
• Understand the needs of the service management and operations phase, including L2/L3 support, incident and problem management
• Experience or interest in recommender systems.
• Experience or interest in building solutions on top of large amounts of data
You are curious and not afraid of pushing your skills and building a trust by sharing knowledge and mistakes. You see an ever-changing environment as a constant flow of opportunities and learning.
You will be the line manager for a team of engineers with responsibility for the people processes such as recruitment, performance, competence, career development, health and wellbeing of your co-workers.
