Cloud Foundation is a part of the Digital Core Platform area, which provides the software development platform for cloud and on-prem applications at Volvo Cars. Cloud Foundation’s responsibility lies within cloud container platforms, based on Kubernetes, on which application team host their modern applications. Our mission is to provide cloud native developers at Volvo Cars with a flexible, secure and efficient platform. We look at our users and the open source communities for inspiration on our stack, and the methods of usage and resource management for our users.
Our team in Stockholm focuses on the user-facing methods and technology for provisioning and managing resources within or in relation to the cloud. They are working on new design and implementation, with declarative resource management based on GitOps, with Kubernetes as the interface towards hundreds to thousands of software developers within Volvo Cars. For this team, we are searching for an Engineering Manager with the skills and drive to make this happen in the best possible way.
You will be based in our office in Stockholm.
What you’ll do
You will lead and grow a team of hardworking engineers through hiring, mentoring, inspiring, and feedback. You will ensure, through streamlined execution and experimentation, that our solutions meet the needs of our customers quickly and accurately. You will be the voice of engineering in the Product team through a friendly and effective collaboration with your product counterpart.
Moreover, you will advocate and strengthen modern, agile software development and help us develop and foster good engineering practices. You will ensure the solutions are scalable, sustainable, architecturally sound, and that technical debt is both incurred consciously and repaid in a reasonable time. You will collaborate with tech leads, staff engineers, product owners, and product managers.
Who you are:
We believe that you have experience working with the public cloud, cloud software development, or related platforms. You love to lead, develop, inspire and grow an engineering team, and you have previous experience doing so. You are very knowledgeable and passionate about modern software development that builds products our customers, cloud application developers, love. You are passionate about digital technologies and willing to work hands-on to try new technologies.
Finally, you are someone that fully embraces a growth mindset, and you have the ability to encourage others to do the same. You are someone who likes to have fun at work and makes sure everyone always feels welcome and included!
