We have over 14 million users all over the world who have logged over 12 million catches in our app. We’re growing fast, both in our social network and in the company, which is why we’re looking for an Engineering Manager Platform Team to join our team.

Your daily work will involve:
Fishbrain is a fast-growing company. We need software that runs smoothly today and that is ready to handle tomorrow’s load. The role is partly a management role and partly a technical role ensuring the team is figuring out a solid backend architecture, minimizing friction between services, and improving the monitoring of our product’s health is what we’re doing on a daily basis.
You will lead the team and the efforts by driving towards a high performing team. This involves ensuring continuous improvements are made and that the team continues its path.
The team works with our infrastructure and development for our systems mainly developed in Ruby and Go. And supporting the data infrastructure part of the team with data pipelines and processing. Experimenting and learning new technologies is important to us, which is why we’re curious of what you might bring to us. With the entire backend team you, and the team, will build software and services that enable other developers to focus on the product and analytics, and you ensure that Fishbrain has the capacity for future growth.
Your responsibility is to ensure that Fishbrain always is up running and that we have reliable data. The platform team accomplishes this through automation, Machine Learning, monitoring and constant focus on reliability and scalability.
As an Engineering manager in the Platform Team you will be responsible for:
Build a high performing team where your team members are developing, motivated and challenged.
Work with the other Engineering managers, Director of Engineering and Chief
Technical Officer to set the strategic technical vision and roadmap for Fishbrain.
Continuously facilitate continuous improvement to help your team deliver more business value.
Define and analyze tech metrics that inform the success of your team’s work.
Experiences within fishing and the fishing industry is a plus.

What we are fishing for:
You have at least a few years of experience from a similar position and you are accustomed to working in a cloud native, containerized environment as a Kubernetes and/or Docker. You have strong experience from working with modern cloud services like Amazon, Azure or Google Cloud and experience from monitoring large distributed systems. You have the ability to actively participate in infrastructure design and implementation and you are familiar with agile development methods, Web based services and API’s.
Our reality:
Being an Engineering Manager, Platform at Fishbrain, you’ll be expected to work on a range of different projects. We’re running the largest portion of our service on AWS, mostly using Docker to run apps using AWS Fargate. This gives us a flexible and solid infrastructure that adapts to the load.
