What you'll be up to

Our mission is to make it easy-peasy for people to buy second-hand products by providing a smooth and optimised search experience that helps users to find and evaluate all the treasures they are looking for.

You will, together with a Product Manager and a UX specialist, drive a cross-functional team with developers

You will together make sure our products are getting love and attention from all three perspectives when they are built, and the strategy and direction set

Your responsibility in this Troika is the tech part and having the manager role for the awesome engineering stars in the team


Who you are

You love connecting with different kinds of people, building online products and all things tech

As our Engineering Manager, you’ll focus on constantly growing our engineers while solving complex technical problems that deliver impact on our products and business on a daily basis

The business mindset, the ability to translate tech business strategy and needs, into language anyone can understand is also a key to success

-
A background in software development would be great, but as long as you understand your team and get their buy-in, any background in tech could be useful

You follow your promises, are transparent with your failures, and communicate to build trust

In addition, you are used to driving one-to-one and one-to-many communications with the ability to make a strategy come alive


Background/skills

-
Experience in developing people and teams through management, coaching and mentoring

-
Dedicated and motivated problem solver with ability to form strong and cross-team partnerships

-
Have experience and good results from data-driven product development

-
Experience and knowledge about cloud infrastructure and cloud computing is considered a merit

The Blocket journey began in Skåne 1996 - since then the concept of Blocket has been exported to over 40 other countries. Today, Blocket, which is owned by the media group Schibsted, is Sweden’s largest online marketplace. There are approximately 600 000 items, vehicles, jobs and housing being advertised and discovered by its 5 million visitors every week. The value for all advertisements in 2018 amounted to SEK 714 billion - equal to 15 percent of Sweden’s GDP. Thanks to second-hand trading at Blocket, 0.8 million tonnes of greenhouse gases can be avoided every year. The output being equivalent to if Stockholm’s city roads stood empty for about a year. Blocket has approximately 240 colleagues and the office is located in central Stockholm.
