Arbetsbeskrivning
Enter the realm of Wolt’s logistics where the logistics platform is an intricate mathematical creature and the Logistics Allocation Team is on a mission to improve the allocation and delivery of orders (hundreds of thousands daily assigned orders!) among over 180 000 courier partners who are the backbone of the Wolt platform. The team’s ultimate objective is to ensure the smooth and timely delivery of all orders to the customers, a feat that requires a combination of logistics expertise, advanced algorithms, and sophisticated data analysis tools. And to be able to do all this even better, we are now looking for an Engineering Team Lead to, well, lead the way and drive the vision of the team!
In short, the team is responsible for ensuring that all orders are delivered to customers on time and efficiently. However, there are always better ways of doing that, so this team is responsible for exactly that: optimization and operational research that would allow us to explore different business verticals. The Logistics Allocation Team uses advanced algorithms and data analysis tools to optimize the allocation of orders to delivery partners based on various factors, such as distance, availability, and workload. They also monitor the delivery process in real-time and make adjustments as needed to ensure that orders are delivered promptly. Our routing platform is fully automated, with our proprietary event-based optimization system finding the optimal route for each courier partner, hopping between restaurants and customers!
In terms of tech, Scala, C++ and Python are the main backend programming languages of the team. And in terms of architecture, we are taking into use event-driven solutions more and more (Kafka etc.), and it’s a work in progress so you will get to be part of making that happen for your team and the group. We work in a cross-functional environment and right now the team consists of backend Python, Scala, and C++ engineers as well as data scientists and Product Lead and we’re rapidly growing our ranks by looking to add the Engineering Team Lead (perhaps that’s you?).
Speaking of which, as a Team Lead you'll be an inspirer, facilitator, and an enabler for the team to do what they do best, by running the development cycles of the team, help design the technical solutions, hosting regular 1on1s, and taking part in recruitment. This role would require a background in logistics (or related field), data science and backend engineering. However, there’s also quite a bit of technical leadership needed here as you’ll be driving the technical and overall vision of the team as well as development of top-quality software produced by the team by also communicating effectively with the Wolt Product team at large. If any of this sounds interesting, then read on!
📍This role can be based in one of our tech hubs in Helsinki, Berlin or Stockholm or you can work remotely anywhere in Finland, Germany, Sweden or Estonia. Read more about our remote setup 👉 here.
