Who are we?
Volvo Autonomous Solutions (VAS) is the business area within Volvo Group that accelerates the development, commercialization and sales of autonomous solutions. The vision for Volvo Group is to be the most desired and successful transport and infrastructure solution provider in the world. We don’t sell trucks and machines: we operate the solutions through the full life cycle to maximize the improvements achievable through autonomy.
That goes hand in hand with our long-term ambitions: 100% Safe, 100% Fossil free and 100% more productive. The automation of our vehicles is seen as a natural step towards reaching that goal. Joining the Volvo Group means to contribute to a large global company that is transforming itself towards these ambitions. We are committed to diversity and inclusion, fostering a team culture where differences are seen as a stepping-stone to better results.
This is us, your new colleagues?
The Enterprise Architecture & Data team in Digital & IT function is a rather new team at Volvo Autonomous Solutions. Our mission is to support V.A.S. to transform from an internal start-up to a scale up, where our contribution is to define and design a new, modern IT landscape. Given the V.A.S. business model we have a greenfield opportunity that we are very excited about. As a team, we approach our IT landscape holistically. We strive to shape a fit-for-purpose IT environment that is cloud first, built on a zero-trust framework, and recognizes data as one of our most valuable assets. We facilitate the work inside V.A.S. by ensuring we have the right tools for the job. To succeed, we fluently blend ambitious strategies with hands-on implementations.
Who are you?
You enjoy the challenge of working in a scale-up and the dynamic environment that comes with that. We believe that you have strong influencing and communication skills. Additionally, you excel in networking and demonstrate a clear understanding of the bigger picture of how digital supports the transportation industry. As V.A.S. is a small business area, with a start-up mentality, it’s important that you are comfortable with a certain level of uncertainty and can navigate in a changing landscape.
You understand the complete digital value chain and IT stack from top to bottom and possess the ability to translate it into business benefits and competitive advantage. As you will work with senior business stakeholders and technical architects, we believe you are equally comfortable in communicating effectively with C-suite managers as with developers.
From a more technical perspective, you have experience of designing IT landscapes across business functions as well as over technical layers.
Given V.A.S. cloud first strategy it’s beneficial if you have experience of:
* Modern cloud architectures
* Modern integrations such as APIs
* Modern SaaS application platforms or complete ERP designs with implementation, preferably using MS Dynamics 365.
What will you do?
You will, together with the entire team, design and develop a modern and effective IT landscape that enables us to scale as an autonomous Transport-as-a-Service provider. You will manage architecture roadmaps within your area of responsibility and ensure the soundness of that architecture by supporting the architectural governance. You will also proactively engage with business stakeholders to understand their roadmaps. From there, you'll translate them into architectural solutions, clearly articulating the business value of key design choices.
Additional responsibilities are:
* Act as E2E responsible architect within your area of responsibility.
* Ensure that the IT landscape is aligned with V.A.S. target architecture and meets functional-, non-functional and security requirements
* Support and guide ongoing projects in the domain with advice and direction regarding implementation, configuration, integration, etc.
* Act as translator between business requirements/needs and the technical solution/realization.
The location for this position is Gothenburg - Sweden.
We are actively working to establish teams that harness the strengths inherent in differences. This includes variances in knowledge, experience, age, gender, nationality, and other factors. We find that balanced work teams increase group dynamics, creativity, and new approaches to solutions.
