Who are we?
Volvo Cars is a company on a mission; to bring traditional car manufacturing into a connected, sustainable and smart future.
Since 1927, we have been a brand known for our commitment to safety, creating innovative cars that make life less complicated for our consumers. In 2010, we decided to transform our business, resulting in a totally new generation of cars and technologies, as well as steady growth and record sales. Today, we’re expanding our global footprint in Europe, China and the US, and we’re on the lookout for new talent.
We are constantly pushing our own skills and abilities to drive change in the automobile industry like never before. We are looking for innovative, committed people to join us in this endeavour and create safe, sustainable and connected cars. We believe in the power of people and will challenge and support you to reach your full potential. Join us and be part of Volvo Cars’ journey into the future.
At DevOps Enablement, we are responsible for designing, running, and supporting shared DevOps toolchains used at enterprise scale by hundreds of agile teams at Volvo Cars Digital. We also promote modern DevOps ways of working by helping teams implement modern toolchains and coach them in up-to-date software development practices. Our primary stakeholders are software engineers, platform engineers/SRE, and agile team members.
What we offer
We are looking for a full-time Technical Product Owner for the shared Observability service, developed and supported by a small, co-located agile team at Volvo Cars HQ in Gothenburg, Sweden. We use a mix of SaaS and self-managed products. The service includes the Elastic Stack platform self-hosted on Microsoft Azure Kubernetes Service, Kafka, InfluxDB, and AppDynamics.
Volvo Cars Digital is migrating data centers to the public cloud. The observability capabilities will be modernized and recast for DevOps at an enterprise scale. The migration journey is an excellent opportunity for a technologist passionate about DevOps and wants to shape the future observability experience for software developers and platform engineers.
What you'll do
You will manage agile requirements and set sprint backlog priorities for a small, co-located agile team in daily collaboration with the Scrum Master. Typical work items will be about developer self-service, authentication, access controls, API management, documentation, and software-defined capabilities of the service.
We use SAFe concepts and events and do big room planning. You will collaborate with the sister team responsible for CI/CD services and the teams managing the shared IT infrastructure and cloud platforms. You will also work closely with the team responsible for the Major Incident Management process.
You will socialize with developers and platform engineers in Microsoft Teams and Slack channels to get insights into their requirements and expectations.
You will review software licensing and purchase orders in close collaboration with central Purchasing and Product Manager DevOps Enablement.
You will do continuous market and competitive analysis and stay up to date on observability trends and solutions, for example, the Cloud Native Foundation landscape.
You will regularly work with the Team Manager, who is responsible for the recruitment and development of the people on the team.
We are looking for
You are a technology leader with good communication skills, perseverance, and diplomatic skills that make you a great collaborator with Volvo Cars internal stakeholders.
You are a modern DevOps advocate, and you have a deep understanding of the mindset of today's software developers and site reliability engineers.
You have a Lean-Agile mindset. You want to amplify feedback loops between development and operations, and you are always looking for opportunities to remove waste and minimize hand-offs.
Experience with Elastic Stack, application tracing, and ServiceNow is a bonus.
You have at least a BSc degree or higher and experience in software development and cloud computing in roles like Product Owner, Software Developer, DevOps Engineer, Business Analyst, or Software Architect.
You are fluent in English, both verbally and written.
