The position

As Enterprise Risk Manager, you will report to the Head of Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) and be a part of the 2nd Line of Defense Nordic Risk & Compliance function consisting of an Insurance Risk team, a Capital & Financial Risk team, the Enterprise Risk team, and a Compliance team. The position is located in Trygg-Hansa, Stockholm and involves some degree of travel activities to Copenhagen where the Head of ERM and half of the ERM team are situated.

The primary responsibility of your role is to support- and perform independent challenge of the risk management activities of the 1st Line of Defense in the Swedish business. In doing so, you will work closely together with other 2nd Line of Defense experts, and with the business, including the 1st line Risk function; the Governance & Control function (G&C function).

Your support and challenge will be based on the Company’s risk strategy, defined in the risk appetite, risk limits and tolerance levels and policies all of which are set by the Board of Directors (BoD). Your assessment(s) and report(s) on the risk and control environment are addressed to the BoD, and provide the management and BoD with independent and forward-looking assessments of the risk universe relative to the strategic and operational plan set by the BoD.


The primary objective of the Enterprise Risk Management function is to:

Ensure effective operation of the Risk Control Cycle and ongoing development and embedment of the risk management system in Codan/Trygg-Hansa
Simplify and align processes and tools in relation to the RMS
Support and challenge 1st line risk management
Perform thematic deep dives to support understanding of risks with particular relevance to the business
Keep processes and outputs both rigorous, practical, and commercially relevant
Improve ERM reporting / communication to facilitate strategic and operational discussions in committees driving actions and ensuring following through
Champion a strong risk & control culture within Codan/Trygg-Hansa


Key Result Areas will be:

You are responsible for leading all 2nd line risk assessments pertaining to the Swedish risk profile providing assurance on the profile through appropriate challenge and analysis. This includes reporting of findings and actions to the regional risk Committee and BoD, and tracking progress of actions to completion.
You will lead engagement between the Enterprise Risk team, the Swedish management team, and the wider stakeholder network where you are responsible for influencing, challenging and supporting the development of the effective operation of the Risk Control Cycle ensuring that all risks in the business are identified and managed or mitigated
You will ensure implementation in the Swedish business of any alterations or requirements pertaining to Solvency II
You will champion a close collaboration with your peers in RSA Group ensuring alignment and effectiveness
You will attend relevant committees, provide insight, challenge and support to the processes and tools relating to the RMS, and advice on any current or anticipated regulations, insurance risk and operating risk trends


Your profile:

It is important that you are driven by change rather than by maintaining status quo
You have minimum five years of experience from working in the insurance industry, preferably in a similar role
You probably have a B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Business, Language and Culture; Business Administration; International Marketing and Management or similar
You thrive with working independently, you are resourceful, take ownership, have a high level of initiative and ability to plan own work and meet agreed deadlines
You are fluent in written and spoken English and Swedish
You are a strong communicator and have experience from presenting, communicating, and working with senior executives
You strive for team excellence and to make things simple and pragmatic in a collaborative way with a positive attitude
You have a strong desire to further develop your role and you have a record as a high-performing contributor and influencer
