Environment Art Lead

Do you want to work with an award-winning team by managing the visual goals and quality of environment and level art for Payday, one of the most iconic and recognized brands in the games industry? As an experienced Environment Lead Artist you will be responsible for the creation and quality as well as planning and prioritization of the environment assets and level art. You will help out to develop and maintain the structure and setup of the content pipeline. This puts high demands on demonstrable technical knowledge and performance as well as visual quality. The role requires you to be able to multi-task and possess good communication skills both spoken and written.

Job Tasks:

- Quality assurance and feedback to the environment team
- Work with Internal art leadership and experts to establish technical and quality goals
- Create and maintain a library of briefs
- Use latest industry softwares to review incoming art assets through production
- Provide detailed feedback as well as paint overs with notes
- Mentoring the artist in your team and push the quality and technical skills


Must have:

- At least 6+ years of experience working as a 3D artist within games
- Experience from working on at least 2+ released AAA games
- A great sense of scale and proportions, materials, color and light
- Fluent in English with excellent communication skills, both verbally and in writing
- You are great at articulate asset creation process and provide the right critical feedback
- Great experience and knowledge working with shaders, pipeline and PBR
- Knowledge and interest in both technical setups and mechanical functions
- Proven knowledge of asset creation, in-game model, UV layout, LODs, Collision as well as Level Art and Layout
- Great understanding of real-time graphics with proven experience in creating realistic looking assets and levels
- Experience from working as Lead Artist


To be successful in this position:

- You are an organized and good leader, strategic, and thoughtful in all interactions with internal and external teams and partners
- Have an expert understanding of game production and have a proven ability to problem-solve, schedule and monitor tasks
- Strong artistic skill set, a good sense of scale and proportions, materials, color and light
- Familiar with project management software, e.g. Jira, Confluence and Shotgun
- Great with time estimations, assessments and prioritizing
- Well versed with Maya, Z-brush and Photoshop
- Experience of working with photogrammetry
- Great knowledge in Substance designer and Painter
- Good understanding of modular and unit based modeling
- Experience working with Unreal, Unity or similar game engine
- Ability to work in a team, communicate well and being proactive
- Structured and technical with experience in outsource management
- Experienced in mentoring artists
