Strategic Development drives the corporate strategy development and capital allocation. Vattenfall has made a strong commitment to enable a fossil free future and in order to deliver on our bold ambitions, we are looking to strengthen our corporate environmental team within Strategic Development. The team currently consists of around 15 environmental professionals from different backgrounds. We are an open and engaged group working in an existing international environment.
We are committed to reducing our environmental footprint. We believe continuous improvement of environmental performance in all parts of our operations is a prerequisite for sound business development. Therefore, environmental considerations are part of our daily operations, and our performance builds on the contribution of all our employees. We are now looking for a passionate Environmental Compliance Advisor.
As our Environmental Compliance Advisor you will coordinate environmental activities, providing support to our Business Areas and Staff Functions, and be responsible for ensuring the company adheres to regulatory and legal standards and in house policies and processes. This is a business facing role requiring well developed skills in communication, influencing and collaboration. Being able to effectively network, and autonomously build and enhance relationships with stakeholders, in addition to strong programme and project management leadership skills will be essential. Frequent liaison with department managers and directors will be required as well as liaison with the wider regional environmental teams and the senior environmental executive team. It will require a strong team ethic and relationship building skills and being comfortable working with various team members across functions and geographies of a highly matrixed international organisation.
You will report to the Director of Environmental Management, who reports to the Vice President Environment.
Key responsibilities include:
Supporting the implementation of environmental practices and management systems to continually reduce any negative impact to the environment across the organization
Ensuring that all relevant documentation and processes are in place to demonstrate compliance to global requirements and operational statutory requirements
Supporting in the development, maintenance and identification of all relevant documents and materials including governance and guidance materials
An understanding of EU and national regulations to ensure relevant documentation and processes are compliant
Assisting in the annual review of the effectiveness of the management system
Continuously review and improve Vattenfall’s approach to environmental management
Advising and training employees, managers and directors on Environmental related matters
Qualifications
As an Environmental Compliance Advisor you will be enthusiastic about environment and sustainability topics. Furthermore, you will excel in your organizational, analytical and time management skills.
To achieve this, we believe you have the following qualifications:
Knowledge and Auditor qualifications in ISO14001 standards
Degree in a relevant environmental discipline such as Environmental Management, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science or other similar such degrees
Relevant work experience in environmental management
Understanding of licencing/permitting and knowledge of National Legislation and Guidelines related to environment
Excellent written and verbal communication skills. You are fluent in English (both written and spoken)
Willingness to travel nationally and within Europe, and have a full EU driving license

Location: The location of this position is Solna, Sweden, Berlin, Germany, Hexham/London UK, Copenhagen, Denmark or Amsterdam, Netherlands with consideration given to flexible working arrangements. Regular business trips are required.
