Functions
As an environmental management engineer, you will work in close collaboration with the person overseeing the territorial scenario development of a future circular collider to plan, coordinate, check and adjust all activities relating to environmental initial feasibility studies.
More specifically, you will:
-Plan, coordinate, check and adjust all activities relating to environmental initial feasibility analysis;
-Create and put in place methodologies for environmental analysis and assessment including reporting in both host states together with industrial partners and host state notified bodies and services, in line with national laws and implementing international regulations, guidelines and standards. The activity includes the identification and consideration of transnational aspects;
-Perform tendering and procurement tasks to maintain and extend a consortium of experienced and competent industrial partners who carry out the domain-specific technical environmental analysis activities. Develop, implement, and monitor environmental policies and strategies in cooperation with academic and industrial partners, notified host state bodies and services to develop a project scenario that meets the requirements for project authorisation in the frame of a subsequent environmental evaluation process in both Host States;
-Manage the consortium of companies that assists in the management of environmental aspects and that carries out the environmental analysis processes in France and in Switzerland;
-Define and put in place a project-wide Environmental Information System (EIS) together with project team members;
-Develop and document a project scenario with good environmental performance applying the mitigation hierarchy, integrating the contributions of technical domain experts at CERN and at international collaboration level.
The selected candidate must be willing to travel frequently (mainly during working days) in the region.
Qualifications
Master's degree or equivalent relevant experience in the field of environmental engineering or a related field.
Experience:
Required experience:
-Project management, tendering and procurement at international level;
-Knowledge of project-relevant technical systems (e.g. large scale physical scientific research infrastructures, electricity distribution, cooling and refrigeration, ventilation, transport, large-scale civil engineering) and interest in a broad set of technical subject matters.
Desired experience:
-Knowledge with GIS for managing environmental aspects;
-EMS (ISO 14001) certification or working knowledge with QMS (ISO 9001), RMS (ISO 31000) and EMS (ISO 14001) standards.
Technical competencies:
-Drafting and writing of official documents;
-Knowledge on permitting and environmental impact analysis processes in Switzerland and in France;
-Environmental evaluations and implementation of prevention measures.

Language skills:
-Spoken and written English: ability to understand and speak in professional contexts as well as the ability to draw-up technical specifications and/or scientific reports and to make oral presentations.
-Basic knowledge of French language would be an asset or an undertaking to acquire it rapidly.

Employment Conditions
