We are currently looking for a Environmental Officer to an exciting opportunity with our client Samsung! This is a consultancy opportunity starting in october with a 1 year contract and a great possibility for an extension.

About the role:

In the role of Environmental Officer you will be responsible to successfully manage all processes related to environmental reporting and environmental fees in Samsung. This includes e.g. WEEE, batteries, packaging, copy fees and the Swedish chemical tax. This role is business critical and key in ensuring compliance with relevant environmental legislation.

The Environmental Officer will have a key role in Samsung´s Corporate Affairs and Sustainability team which is part of the Legal department, headed by the General Counsel and Director for Legal, Compliance & Corporate Affairs. You will report to Samsung´s Sustainability & Corporate Affairs manager and contribute to the team´s mission on ensuring and aiming to go beyond legal compliance with our products and business practices, to continually and proactively reduce our climate footprint and to communicate to consumers and stakeholders about the sustainability performance of our products, whilst delivering innovation to a resource efficient society. You will be working across all divisions in Samsung Nordics and have close collaborations with colleagues in headquarters.

Responsibilities:

• Ensure compliance with relevant environmental legislation (e.g. WEEE, battery, packaging legislation, Swedish chemical tax and copyfees)
• Ensure correct environmental reporting and meet tight deadlines
• Ensure that the business internally and relevant external stakeholders are well-informed
• Ensure implementation of upcoming environmental reporting requirements and process improvement related to existing environmental reporting
• Regular monitoring of relevant legislations and regulations that would impact Samsung
• Various assignments requested by the Sustainability and Corporate Affairs Manager

• Ensure that Samsung correctly reports, invoices and pays relevant fees and taxes (e.g. WEEE, batteries, packaging, copy fees and the Swedish chemical tax), administrate all process flows, control and document processes, manage and solve issues related to all relevant taxes and fees, provide relevant information to the business and relevant external stakholders
• Process improvement related to environmental reporting (e.g. monitor compliance schemes, automating chemical tax reporting).
• Regular monitoring of relevant legislations and regulations that would impact Samsung.

 

Your profile:

• Academic qualification,
• 1-3 years in similar role

Skills:
• Excel (advanced level)
• SAP knowledge
• Ability to quickly learn how to use new systems
• Experience from audit/business controller activities or similar
