Umeå University in northern Sweden is a dynamic university with 4 200 employees and more than 28 000 students, of which 1 300 are on PhD programmes.The External Relations unit is Umeå University's resource facility that strives to improve and strengthen cooperation between the university, the business world and society.We act as an intermediary between the faculties, departments and research centres of the university, society and industrial and commercial life.EU Programme experts who can support its researchers with applications, projects and strategic initiatives within the Seventh Framework Programme (FP7), the Competitiveness and Innovation Framework Programme (CIP) and the European Research Council (ERC) Umeå University's aim is to increase its EU-funded research fivefold withinthe next five years.To achieve this, a new support facility is currently being set up within the External Relations unit.Its task is to support the university's researchers and their partners in business and society in their efforts to become more successful in applying for funding from the different EU programmes. This work will be carried out in close collaboration with departments and faculties at the university and will also be coordinated with other organisations in the region. Umeå University is now looking for EU Programme experts, full-time or part-time, who can assist its researchers and their business world partners with applications, projects and strategic initiatives on the EU arena.The experts will work either at the External Relations unit or at a department or research centre, or within one specific field of research at Umeå University.It is essential that candidates - have experience of working with applications and have participated in projects or strategic initiatives within the EU Framework Programmes for research (FP5 or FP6) - possess excellent communication skills in English (both written and verbal) Successful candidates should also - have experience of writing and scrutinising project applications and strategic documents within Framework Programmes for research or other EU Programmes - have experience of managing or coordinating applications to EU Framework Programmes in cooperation with national and international partners within the academic and business worlds.- have experience as project or academic coordinator or WP leader within EU Framework Programmes.- possess a network of contacts in the European Commission and other important organisations within areas of research of relevance to Umeå University.A description of the applications, projects or strategic initiatives that the candidate has participated in and the role he/she had in this work, and the names and addresses of three referees should be appended to the application. Applications will be discarded or, if the applicant so wishes, returned two years after the position has been filled.Documents sent electronically should be in MS Word or PDF format.
