Experienced Applications Engineer to Modig Machine Tools

Job Summary:

Under minimal direction provides technical expertise to internal/external customers ensuring customer development, retention and satisfaction. Ability to perform customer machine set-up, programming, and run off’s. Designs and develops machine programming processes to create parts(s). Is responsible for customers initial machine operation and program training to ensure optimum efficiency and equipment utilization. Responsible for troubleshooting and assisting the customer and or sales team to provide product satisfaction.

Essential Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

As a member of the machine set-up team; performs tooling & fixturing set-ups, programming, and run off ensuring optimum cycle time based on established acceptable criteria. The ability to read and understand various prints and part models is crucial for this position. Tooling and fixturing knowledge is important in discussing solutions for our customers.

The key role is the ability to program some of the fastest machines available to the market. 4 and 5 axis typical programming skills are required. Familliarity and an understanding of program modification, set-up, statistical process and evaluation criteris CPK, geometric tolerances etc.

We provide time studies to our customers that are the backbone of our company. We stand behind our time studies 100% so this ability is critical and solid training is provided.

Travel is a part of this position requirements with international travel required. A valid passport will be required. We support the Aerospace and Auto industry around the world. You’ll be the face of the company many times to our customer so a professional demeanor is mandatory.

Working Conditions:

-Office & manufacturing work environment which includes; moving mechanical machine parts, potentially loud equipment, with exposure to a variety of non-hazardous and hazardous chemicals and airborne particles.

-Hands on work with machine tool equipment.

-CRT viewing and key entry

-Internal/external customer communications with vendor contact

-Frequent overnight travel to customer sites.

As the Applications Engineer at Modig Machine Tool, you will have a unique opportunity to work in a smaller company with the ability to make the necessary decisions for success. This role has a significant importance due to the small size of the company and will report directly to the CEO. The company is experiencing significant growth and investing heavily. We are starting the construction of our new facility in Kalmar.

Qualifications:

- Bachelor degree in Manufacturing Engineering or related field at University level; or the equivalent in formal course work & work experience; or work experience equivalent.
- Demonstrated knowledge in CNC programming and CAD/CAM usage.
- Demonstrated knowledge and application of machine tool products, options and functions.
- Demonstrated business writing and documentation skills.
- Strong interpersonal communication skills.
- Demonstrated self-starter and effective use of organization and planning skills.
- Demonstrated Project Management Skills.
- PC literate and skill efficiency in job related software/programs

The Production Manager will implement lean techniques and is responsible for the timely production of the machines within the specified time limits. Coaching, guiding and growing the team are important qualitites that the Modig company considers to be a part of its culture.

This person should be task driven, good at team building and ensuring that his employees are efficient and process compliant. As a Production Manager you should be a strong trainer, and be ready to assist with questions regarding machine assembly and installation when required. Empowerment comes with this position since decision making on the "floor" is a must.
