We are now looking for an experienced IP legal counsel to be part of the Polestar global legal team and located at the Polestar Headquarter in Gothenburg, Sweden. You will be reporting to Polestar’s General Counsel.
Your Responsibilities
Developing and maintaining IP strategy
Creation and maintenance of a global, business relevant IP portfolio
Supervise outside patent prosecution counsel
Document and contract drafting
Negotiations with external parties, litigation and supervision of external advisors in matters requiring external specialist support
Providing internal IP training at higher level across the organisation
Being actively engaged in leading and driving the development of the organisation, and driving change therein
Be a resource for the legal and technical teams for all things IP
Conduct brainstorming sessions to spur invention disclosures in the electric vehicle, and autonomous driving, and software fields
Be willing to present at various legal conferences and exhibit IP thought leadership
Up to 20% travel (mostly to China)
Your background
Preferably a Master of Law or any other legal degree with standing experience in (international) IP law.
Education to B.S. or MSc level or beyond in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Computer Science or a related field.
Full qualification as a European or US Patent Attorney.
Work experience in the IP area of 8+ years – preferably in-house within IP intense multinational corporation and/or with an internationally-recognized law firm – in patent prosecution, IP and software licensing, joint development agreements, NDA’s, supply agreements, collaboration, etc.
Demonstrable technical knowledge of automotive industry, preferably in the area of Software, IoT and digitalization with experience in efficiently developing portfolios of a high quality, with an intent towards commercialization, licensing and monetization.
Strong working knowledge of patent regulations of the region as well as foreign filing strategy and patent prosecution.
· Experience in working and leading in global organisations, ideally with heavy R&D/patent focus.
Business savvy and ready to learn and move at the pace of a start-up.
Fluency in English.
