Senior Research Scientist / Associate Principal Chemist – Medicinal Chemistry
Red Glead Discovery is a rapidly growing drug discovery company located at Medicon Village in Lund, Sweden. We deliver cross-functional services to Life Science clients at a global level. We aspire to be a prime drug discovery service provider in northern Europe. We are now expanding the business and look for an accomplished Medicinal Chemist with drug discovery experience to our chemistry team.
This is a permanent position.
What You Will Do / Job description:
As a senior medicinal chemist, you will contribute with experience and scientific leadership to our creative and collaborative chemistry team focused on small molecules. Typical tasks involve:
• Lead Chemist role incl. to mentor and lead chemists, make chemistry plans, and contribute to the strategic planning and writing of chemical patents
• Synthetic chemistry in the lab
• Compound design and generation of structure-activity/property-relationships
• Hit-to-Lead chemistry mainly based on follower and fragment-based lead generation strategies
• Communication with clients and team members – often in global and multi-disciplinary settings
Further, the role might entail:
• Evaluate and provide input on feasibility and resource allocation for new project proposals
• Function as a project leader coordinating tasks in all areas of a drug discovery project
Qualification requirements:
• Ph.D. in synthetic organic or medicinal chemistry
• Minimum 5 years of relevant industry experience across multiple drug discovery projects
• In-depth knowledge of modern synthetic chemistry incl. purification and analytical techniques
• Solid understanding of other disciplines relevant to drug discovery such as IP, target validation, pharmacology, structure-based design, ADME/PK, safety/toxicology, formulation, scale-up, etc.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English – preferably also in Swedish
It is advantageous for the position if you have a proven track record of project management and/or progression of drug discovery projects into the clinic. Experience of FBLD is highly meritorious.
