Our Exciting Opportunity
We are looking for an experienced and creative researcher to engage in the development of current and future mobile networks' generations, used by billions of people. This opportunity is to join our Ericsson Research team working with the 3rd Generation Partnership project (3GPP) in Core Networks, driving Ericsson’s strategies in 5G/6G standardization!

The main objective of the 3GPP SA2 (System Aspects 2) standardization area is to develop the overall 3GPP system architecture including User Equipment, Access Network, Core Network, and IP Multimedia Subsystem. Moreover, 3GPP SA2 is responsible for developing Stage 2 specifications comprising the follow areas (non-exhaustive list): Architecture model and concepts; Control and user plane protocol stacks; End-to-end Procedures for, e.g., Network Data Analytics and Automation, Network Capability Exposure, Data collection and storage, 3GPP Services, etc.

The positions will be based in Stockholm, Sweden, as part of the Core Network Research section.

You will
Research and develop novel concepts, solutions and algorithms by using, e.g., simulators, prototypes, etc.
Create new technical solutions and protect them with Intellectual Property Rights (IPR), write research articles, etc.
Act as a delegate and/or back office researcher, working with contributions for and participate in 3GPP standardization meetings.
Represent Ericsson in external fora such as standardization, university collaborations, national and European research projects and customer meetings.


To be successful in the role you must have
PhD degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering. Preferably with a specialization towards Networking and Communication. Alternatively, an M Sc degree with substantial experience of standardization work.
Experience in working with 3GPP standardization
Excellent knowledge of Mobile Networks and industry understanding
Demonstrated leadership capability
Proficiency in English, both written and spoken
Outstanding networking, collaboration, communication and innovation skills with high energy and motivation
