Avalanche Studios is the division dedicated to ambitious, externally published, AAA open world games like Just Cause, Mad Max, and Rage 2 - our upcoming title Contraband is a co-op smuggler’s paradise set in the fictional world of 1970s Bayan.
Contraband is a brand new IP published by Xbox Game Studios, and we're now looking for a talented Senior Technical Artist to join our team.
The Position
We are looking for a Senior Technical Artist with specialized experience towards rendering pipelines to work on the development of high-profile projects. The ideal candidate feels comfortable in a team environment and is able to contribute on many levels of the technical art side in general, and with an edge in realtime rendering features. You will work with the Art and Technical Directors to help manage, research and evolve the art content creation pipelines and act as a liaison between the artists and programmers. You will work with a team of talented and experienced game developers, who have worked on numerous best-selling and critically acclaimed titles.
Required Qualifications
Experience in the games industry
Strong knowledge of Python
Strong ability to work independently and proactively
Strong problem solving skills
Strong knowledge of current 3D rendering principles and shaders
Well versed in tool development for Maya, Substance and other software packages
Ability to communicate effectively with artists and other disciplines
Beneficial Qualifications
Knowledge of shader languages such as HLSL/GLSL
Understanding of PBR and HDR content and rendering pipelines
Experience working with and knowledge of current generation console hardware
A good understanding of 3D math
Knowledge and experience using C++
Experience with Houdini and procedural pipelines
Experience authoring 3D assets
