MAX IV is a Swedish national large-scale research laboratory hosted by Lund University. It provides scientists from Sweden as well as internationally, with state-of-the-art instrumentation for research in areas such as engineering, physics, structural biology, chemistry and nanotechnology. Fully developed it will receive more than 2 000 scientists annually, conducting ground-breaking experiments in materials and life sciences using the brilliant X-ray light.
Experimental Safety – Gas and Chemical Safety
The user experiments at MAX IV involve the handling of inert, flammable and sometimes toxic gases.
Every experiment undertaken at MAX IV requires an experimental risk assessment. We are looking for a gas and chemical safety personnel to join the Experimental Safety group at MAX IV. You will work closely in the team and with the beamline scientists to identify risks & mitigations in user experiments, assist beamline scientist in preparation for safe execution of experiments and work with the experimental safety team to ensure the user experiment processes are managed effectively. Your experience will be a valuable asset when building new experimental set ups and infrastructure systems associated gases.
Tasks and responsibilities:
- Support overall experimental safety work process.
- Evaluate and provide solutions for gas and chemical safety aspects of user experiments.
- Support beamline scientists and users concerning gas and chemical safety requests and requirements.
- Support the relevant groups when building up new infrastructure associated with experimental gases.
- Supporting beamline in safe activity for user operations.
- Support experiment hall safety implementations.
- Beamline Floor support roles may be present in this role.
