Gränges Technology is part of Gränges AB within the Gränges Group, a world leading company that develops, manufactures and markets aluminium strips which are used for production of brazed heat exchangers. Our materials are used in automotive and stationary heat exchangers. Gränges is operating globally with a total of nearly 1,000 employees and runs complete production units in Finspång and Shanghai.

Gränges Technology is the global R&D unit of Gränges and consists of one department each in Finspång and Shanghai. We support Gränges and our customers with product- and process development, material and failure analysis, and provide the company with competence in the materials science of aluminium. We also maintain an external network with universities and research institutes.

Job description
The leader of our group “Mechanical Properties and Microstructure” is now moving on to another position such that we need to strengthen this competence area. The main focus of the present recruitment is to gain new expertise. A suitable and mature candidate could in addition take on the role as group leader.

We need to strengthen our expertise on (1) technical aspects of mechanical testing; (2) how fatigue, creep, and other strength properties depend on microstructure; (3) texture; (4) advanced microstructure analysis.

As research engineer in mechanical properties and microstructure, you will initiate, carry out, and administrate R&D projects and short-term assignments with a focus on mechanical properties and microstructure. As an additional option, you may take on the role as group leader with responsibility for the competence area, including responsibility for 3-4 research engineers and scientists working in the group.

You should have the desire and personal skills to work in an industrial environment; you need to co-operate well with colleagues from Gränges Technology as well as from production, quality department, technical service, and sales and marketing. We offer a high level of independence and expect that you take full responsibility as R&D project leader towards our internal customers. You should also contribute to our competence organization by building or maintaining an external network in your areas of expertise. We believe that you possess a Ph.D. degree or have equivalent research experience in materials science, physics of materials, or a similar field. It is important that you are proficient in English and if you are not a Swedish speaker, you should have the capability to learn Swedish within 12 months.
