ABOUT THE ROLE:
This impactful role is a residential one within Sweden and will be leading the Exploration Department in a manner that promotes achieving safety and exploration goals, while continuously aligning daily functions to reflect LKABs values. This position reports to the Senior Vice President Strategy, Business Development and Exploration.
Job Responsibilities
To develop and implement strategies that grow the company’s resources and reserves through brownfields and greenfield exploration.
To develop and implement business practices and guidelines which are aligned with the organization’s regional and corporate strategies.
Responsibility for framing and managing budget, upholding LKABs values, continuous safety improvement and reporting results as required.
To lead, develop and maintain a team of exploration technical professionals sufficiently competent and skilled to further the objectives and strategies set by the company.
Interact with all Senior Regional and Corporate Management to ensure that effective programs are undertaken, which are directed at meeting the needs of the mine sites.
Manage site exploration teams and oversee professional development.
To develop succession plans for yourself and key team members and ensure that a transfer of skill and experiences occurs so that a successor is developed to replace you and key players of your team.
Responsible for meeting high environmental standards in exploration and receiving all necessary permits and approvals before commencing work.
Ability to work with many disciplines to achieve the company’s goals
Ensure a high level of data quality, security and QA/QC.
Manage land title security, and any work, reporting and payment commitments on exploration land.

Qualifications & Skill Requirements
Master of Science degree in Geology or equivalent required. A Masters with economic geology emphasis is preferred.
A minimum of 15 years of experience as an exploration geologist with increasing levels of responsibility is preferred.
Knowledge of exploration techniques as they apply to mineral deposit discovery and evaluation.
Advanced knowledge of mineral deposits and the integration of exploration methods in the discovery and mineral deposit evaluation process.
Demonstrated success in value-added technical and economic assessment of early- to advanced-stage exploration targets in brownfields environments.
Experience in identifying opportunities, securing new projects, negotiating agreements, and designing and implementing exploration programs.
General understanding of mining operations.
Have a realistic approach to economic targets using economic models in exploration
A successful track record in creative thinking, leading to the development of robust exploration targets
Strong verbal, written, analytical and persuasive skills and the ability to interact effectively with all levels of employees and management.
Ability to work independently and also as a member of the management team.
Demonstrates strong administrative, organizational and technical writing skills.
