What do we offer?
At our Global Export Controls Office, we bundle passion, and all the core export controls competencies to ensure our worldwide Volvo Cars’ business activities are compliant with the applicable export controls laws and regulations. We are now expanding our team and therefore looking for a person to act as our expert on export control classifications of hardware, software and technology. You will be an integral part of an engaged global team with aspirations to make a global change. The role will be based in Gothenburg and will report to Head of Global Export Controls.
What you’ll do
As Export Control Expert you will be responsible for ensuring export control compliance in all Volvo Cars global business activities. You will actively contribute to the development and implementation of the Export Control Program together with the rest of the global Export Control team, other internal groups and colleagues.
Your focus will primarily be on analyzing items (hardware, software, technology) according to their technical features and classifying them according to their characteristics in compliance with applicable export control laws. You will proactively engage with functions such as R&D and Procurement to obtain necessary information in support of classification. You will have oversight of product knowledge to identify risks, how to accurately classify and support classifications with justifications. You will be responsible for developing procedures as needed to ensure consistency and to enable control of classification and master data proactively. You will also be an active participant in IT projects that implement tools to automate processes and improve classification and compliance level within Volvo Cars.
You and your skills
We are looking for someone that can act as our technical expert related to export control laws and regulations of EU, US, and other countries where Volvo Cars has export control classification requirements. You should demonstrate independence and confidence in decision making. You should not be afraid to handle complex, high quantity, and sometimes contradictory information to effectively solve problems. We believe in creating new and better ways for the organization to be successful and you should join our efforts in actively seeking new ways to grow and be challenged using both formal and informal development channels. Communication is key and you should be able to deliver multi-mode communications to convey a clear understanding of the unique needs of different audiences.
Background
We believe in candidates that have min. 5 years of working knowledge of EU and US export control laws and regulations, preferably related to software, electronics, encryption, sensors etc.
Have excellent oral and written communication skills (English).
Work independently and good at providing guidance and support to others
Highly focused with excellent attention to detail
Structured, quality conscious and with a proactive approach to tasks
Used to working as part of a team
Have good communication skills and ability to interact with internal and external business partners
