The Communications and External Relations Division at the European Spallation Source (ESS) in Lund, Sweden, invites applications for an External Relations Officer position.
Description of directorate/division/group
The External Relations Officer will report to the Group Leader External Relations & European Projects. This Group is part of the ESS Communications and External Relations division, which is in charge of strategic and operation activities relating internal and external communications and stakeholder relations.
Description of main responsibilities
As External Relations Officer your main responsibilities will be to manage the of EU grants including:
• Acquisition of new grants
• Supervising the weekly screening of open calls
• Setting-up of strategic partnerships
• Drafting grant applications
• Setting-up the administrative documents and budget proposal
• Management of existing grants
• Project coordination of grants where ESS is the project leader
• Interface to grant authority or project leader
• Ensuring the timely and complete delivery of requested project and financial reporting
• Contribution to capacity building programs for EU Structural Funds
• Support of In-kind contribution activities
• External relations and stakeholder management
• Organization and follow-up of Partner activities in ESS member countries
• Gather, sort and analyze information about relevant activities and developments in member states and EU working bodies
• Support of the management of the ESS ILO Network
• Supervision of the development and maintenance of support tools such as databases
• Support the coordination and organization of formal non-procurement relationships and activates with industrial partners
Qualifications
To be successful and perform well in this position, you have:
• 3-5 years experience from a similar role
• Experience in managing publicly funded activities
• Academic degree in a subject relevant to the portfolio of the tasks
• Proven project management skills, including responsibilities for financial management and reporting
• Deep knowledge of the EU institutions and the decision-making processes, as well as the developments in the field of Research and Innovation, Enterprise and Industries, Education and Regional Policy, including the respective funding programmed schemes
• Experience of working in an international environment is essential
• Excellent oral and written English skills are a prerequisite; knowledge of other European languages would be an advantage
The position is a two-year temporary position. Your work place will be situated in Lund, Sweden.
