Embassy Estate Supervisor/Maintenance and Project Manager
A part-time vacancy (60%) has arisen within the Management Section of the British Embassy.
Work in the Management Section of the Embassy covers all aspects of Human and Financial resources, and the day-to-day business of keeping the Embassy running smoothly.
The work for the vacant position involves:
" Supervision of Estate maintenance programme (Embassy and 14 units of accommodation);
" Health and Safety;
" Working on a Oracle based system, raising requisitions for purchases;
" Budget monitoring;
" Estate Project management;
" Following strict guidelines for obtaining quotations and tenders for goods and services;
Essential Skills and Experience
" Ability to work as part of a team, as well as independently - taking responsibility under light supervision.
" Excellent communication skills which will include good written and spoken English and Swedish.
" Good building and general technical experience/knowledge (heating, plumbing, electrical, health and safety regulations etc), and, for tendering, some knowledge of Swedish technical terminology;
" Good organisational skills and an ability to prioritise tasks and work to deadlines - often under pressure.
" Positive attitude, flexibility, an ability to learn quickly and adapt to a fast moving working environment.
" Good IT skills.
" Aptitude for providing a customer driven service.
This is a part-time position (24 working hours per week) offered initially on a contract basis, which reflects our current funding.There will be some flexibility on the actual hours (e.g.mornings only or 4 x 6 hours).(Some future project work may require the job- holder to work some additional hours).The job may suit someone who is involved in their own business - perhaps in a related field - but is looking for additional stimulating and varied work with a regular income.As an employee of a Diplomatic Mission, salary is not subject to income tax.
