Scania is now undergoing a transformation from being a supplier of trucks, buses and engines to a supplier of complete and sustainable transport solutions.

Would you like to contribute in electrifying heavy transports in order to reduce our CO2 footprint?

Scania is ongoing a transformation journey within electrification. This means a new way of working as well as new types of products. UPAC is a calculation and testing group within propulsion department that is an essential part of the transformation.

We are a passionate team that value social safety, teamwork and an open mindset, we believe that this is the key to enable ourself to be creative and develop. The team is very helpful, friendly and share a passion for science. Since we are in the middle of changing the way we work and deepen our understanding, we need to automate a lot more and increase our capability in our methods.

In the group we have physical testing, both in rig and in test vehicles. We have load data expertise and structural and dynamic FEM in order to perform virtual testing. Automations are programmed in python and we work with most preprocessors like Simlab, Hypermesh, Abaqus CAE and Meta. But we all use Abaqus as a solver. As a management system we practice SAFe and servant leadership.

Our group is growing a lot and to succeed in our transformation journey we are now looking for new team members to enable us in our strategic goals.

About the job:

In this position you will work with a variety of phenomena’s and part systems of the electrified powertrain where method development is needed to understand new solutions and measure new values. Your job will include performing simulations on our electrified propulsion system as well as conventional transmission. The roll also include to be part of the method development as well as our process automation.

Examples of task could be:


• Working together with designers to achieve the best possible design for a future product.
• Understanding a new phenomena, develop together with our test engineers or data scientist a way to verify your calculations, rigg, vehicle test or load data from the field, and take part of the test results to adjust your assumptions.
• Automate a well-known method and adjust it to be user friendly.

Your profile:

Your nature should be curious and you feel and act with high responsibility. You are driven to learn and improve and strive for autonomy. You like to read up on things to solve problems but also consult others. You have no problem connecting with others and find teamwork joyful and an opportunity to learn as well as contribute. Your motivation comes from the joy of seeing the effect of you work and being of help to others. And you have the endurance to finish of what you have started.

As a minimum requirement you should have:


• Master of Science with solid mechanic courses like fatigue, dynamics or material mechanics.
• 2 or more years working with FEM or a PhD within the field.
• Fluent English both in writing as well as verbal.

Meritorious:


• Programming experience in Phyton, either as concrete work examples or as a concrete hobby projects.
• Experience of method development that is verified with tests.
• Interest or experience in data science, statistics and AI programming.
