FEM Calculation Engineer within Electrified Propulsions System

FEM Calculation Engineer within Electrified Propulsions System

Arbetsbeskrivning

Would you like to contribute to electrifying the transportation industry to reduce our CO2 footprint?

Scania is ongoing a transformation journey within electrification. This means a new way of working as well as new types of products. Our group, EVPAC, is a calculation and testing group within the propulsion department which plays an essential role in this transformation.

In the group we also have vast resources for physical testing as well as powerful computational resources to perform structural and dynamics finite element calculations for virtual testing. We are a passionate research and development team that values social safety, teamwork and an open mindset. We believe that these are keys to enable ourselves to be creative and develop in a safe and friendly environment where one can develop a career.

Since we are in the middle of changing and challenging the way we work and deepening our understanding of the electrification challenges in the transportation industry, we often use automation scripts which enable us to accelerate our processes and improve our methods to develop high performance products. These automations are commonly programmed in (but not limited to) python and shell scripting. We work with most FE pre-processors like Simlab, Hypermesh, Abaqus CAE and ANSA, and we use their APIs for automating tasks. We use both Abaqus/Standard and Abaqus/Explicit as our main solvers for implicit and explicit simulations. As a management system we practice SAFe and servant leadership.

Our group is growing and to succeed in our transformation journey we are now looking for other passionate team members to enable us in our strategic goals. Diversity is an important success factor for us and something we strive to achieve.

About the job:

In this position you will work with a variety of phenomena and part systems of the electrified powertrain where method development is needed to understand new solutions and measure new values. Your job will include preforming simulations on our electrified propulsion system as well as conventional transmission. The role also includes to be part of our method development as well as our process automation goals.

Some examples of tasks are for instance:

• Working together with designers to achieve the best possible design for a future product.
• Understanding new phenomena and develop together with our test engineers or data scientist in the department a way to verify your calculations. Through rig testing, vehicle test or load data from the field to use results to feedback our modelling assumptions.
• Automate well-known methods and adjust them if necessary.

Your profile:

Your nature should be curious and you feel and act with high responsibility. You are driven to learn and improve and strive for autonomy. You like to read up on things to solve problems but also not being afraid of consulting others. You have no problem connecting with others and find teamwork joyful and an opportunity to learn as well as to contribute.

Your motivation comes from the joy of seeing the effect of your work and being of help to others. You also have the endurance to complete tasks. In the group we have both junior and senior co-workers, meaning that all levels of experience are welcome to apply.

As a minimum requirement you should have:

• Master of Science with solid mechanic courses like fatigue, dynamics or material mechanics.
• Fluent English both in writing as well as verbal.

Meritorious:

• Programming experience in Phyton and its most commonly used libraries, either as concrete work examples or as a concrete hobby projects.
• Experience automating FE calculations either on pre- or post-processing.
