Fermentation Scientist to Mycorena in Gothenburg

Job description
Are you interested in joining a first class R&D-team at Mycorena? Are you an expert in fermentation processes? Then Fermentation Scientist is the position for you! In this role you will work with developing new products and processes, upscaling and liquid bioreactors. 

Mycorena is a quickly growing company of meat analogs in the food industry. To take Mycorena’s research to the next level, they are looking for a talented Fermentation Scientist to join the R&D team and produce an award winning meat substitute product. As a Fermentation Scientist you will be part of the very core of Mycorena. From researching new areas in food technology to evaluating your findings in the lab, you will be working with the full product development process from concept to commercialization. As responsible for the fermentation process and upscaling it, you will play an important role in the R&D team. As innovation is key, there will be several exciting research projects to take the lead on as well.

Responsibilities
As the main responsible for the development of Mycorenas fermentation technology, you will be:
• Managing and conducting applied research and innovation projects.
• Research in how to improve and upscale the production of the meat substitute product.
• Running iterative tests and experiments to optimise and stabilise the fermentation processes.
• Writing patents and technical documentation.
• Working closely with Mycorenas production team ensuring that food manufacturing processes conform with government, processing, consumer and industry standards.

Qualifications
You hold a PhD in fermentation science or similar field, or an MSc with several years of experience. Ideally, you have five years of work experience within fermentation science or similar field. To succeed in the role you have experience from using liquid bioreactors and fermentation technology. Experience from the brewery industry as well as knowledge in HACCP will be an asset in role. Additionally, experience of upscaling processes from lab environment to full production processes is a plus. You have excellent skills in in managing projects and writing scientific articles. You are fluent in English. 

You have an ability to plan, lead and prioritize activities to develop new products for use while closely collaborating cross-functionally with relevant stakeholders. As a person, you are self-driven, innovative and have a solution-oriented mindset. You believe in ‘sharing is caring’ and enjoys sharing knowledge and research insights with the rest of the team. Lastly, working in a fast-paced environment means that we all need to be flexible, efficient and ambitious team players in order to reach our mission.
