As Cardiovascular, Renal and Metabolism (CVRM) Finance Director R&D you will join the global BioPharma R&D Finance Team and report and work closely with the overall VP Finance for R&D Biopharma. As the Finance Director you will be taking a leading financial role not only within Early and Late stage CVRM but also within the Global R&D organisation.
Preferably located in Gothenburg Sweden, where the TA has the largest presence. The role holder will have a seat in the Site Leadership Team and the opportunity to contribute and influence the culture for the site and people.
What you´ll do
As the CVRM Finance Director R&D you will work closely with the CVRM Leadership Team (LT) to set out the strategic direction for Finance and ensure its alignment with the overall strategy and business plan for CVRM. You are accountable for translating strategy into goals and action, demonstrating a deep understanding of the relationship between the business and finance strategy. In collaboration with CVRM LT, you will work towards maximising the value of their portfolio via innovative analysis to aid prioritization and investment decisions proactively and identifying opportunities for partnerships.
You will own the financial planning cycle for the CVRM business unit together with the VP Finance Biopharma R&D to set stretch but attainable performance targets and incentives, aligned to strategy and operational plans. Create forecasts for the overall function and individual early CVRM projects leveraging sound understanding of the business model and financial drivers to challenge and influence the key cost drivers. You will build operating plans and budgets and track costs closely to highlight sensitivities and risks.
Some of your accountabilities will include:
Business Strategy and Decision Support
* Provide strategic financial input to the CVRM strategy (TA Strategy) and business plan, driving the transparency of cost, value and return on investment across the portfolio.
* In partnership with the CVRM LT, maximise the value of their portfolio via innovative analysis to aid resource allocation and investment decisions proactively identifying opportunities for partnerships etc
Business Performance
* Joint accountability with the business for the accuracy of the overall CVRM forecasts in excess of $1bl. Strong advocate for the ongoing challenge to deliver Optimised Drug Development and the fundamental transformation of the clinical development process. Ensuring forecasts reflect the changing environment in which we operate
* Lead the financial planing cycle for the CVRM business unit, including the R&D Costs into the TA Strategy and 10 year plan and partnering with the VP R&D Finance R&D BioPharmaceuticals to set stretch but attainable performance targets and incentives, aligned to strategy and operational plans.
* Creates operating plans and budgets to ensure the effective delivery of business objectives within timescales and quality standards; including benchmarking and tracking of efficiency and business change.
* Defines the measurement, assessment and proactive communication of the performance of the function to facilitate continuous improvement of performance
* Preparation of all presentations for key business and finance review meetings.

* Coaches, develops and motivates director and manager level colleagues to ensure an inclusive way of working where accountabilities are clear, objectives are delivered and competitive advantage created through clear linkages between investment in people and business performance
* Creates a climate that enables everyone to contribute to performance and continuous improvement objectives
* Accountable for the controls that ensure operations comply with Finance Standards and policies
As our Financial Director you need an analytical mindset while simultaneously oriented to problem-solving. You have to be focused on delivery and, in periods, be used to working under pressure.
Essential for the role
* MBA or other Finance/Business qualification
* Extensive work experience in Finance Function
* Deep analytical thinking. Experience developing business cases and use of decision support tools and mentoring others in their development and use
* Ability to Impact and Influence/Collaborative Partnering.
* Excellent communication and presentation skills
* Stakeholder management

* Experience of working in a global pharmaceutical organisation
