We're on the lookout for a Financial Controller who shares a passion for numbers and details! Stena Line has extensive operations in the UK, domestic as well as international and due to Brexit, customs handling has materially increased. However, therefore we are looking for you who have an interest in customs and logistics as well as accounting.
Together with a fellow financial expert, you’ll ensure that Stena Line sails smoothly through the labyrinth of custom regulations. You will ensure that the Stena Line group complies with rules and legal requirements in Customs handling. Correct Customs handling will save money and improve reporting which will be even more important for Stena Line as business develops.
As this is a new role it will also contain further opportunities in accounting to better understand the complexity of our business.
Some of your key responsibilities:
- Preform self-assessment of custom declarations – weekly and monthly
- Daily customs duties, such as taking care of questions arising and taking preventative measures to ensure a simple supply chain and correct customs handling, together with the person in charge.
- Ensure that Stena Line has the systems and processes in place for a correct customs handling.
- Check incoming declarations, look for missing documents and initiate corrections when needed.
- Together with persons in charge of purchasing and finance be a contact person for distributors, our customs agency, external customs department and internal stakeholders.
- Handle and update the system Emma, Customs office webpage and the CDS portal.
- Collaborate with the purchasing department to compile VAT reports for the finance department.
- Submit and monitor settlement notes.
What you will experience
You will be a part of our accounting department and report to one of the two Accounting Managers in a team of eleven members. As a group we try to get a smooth closing and reporting process, which means that tasks are shared between different individuals. The finance department is organized as a Shared Service Centre (SSC) where the accounting department is included. We work as one Finance department, which means that we work across different legal entities as well as other departments. The operation is spread and includes Scandinavia, Germany, the Baltics, UK and the Netherlands.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or equivalent.
- Qualified work experience in Finance is meritorious, preferably from an audit firm or international company
- It is meritorious if you have been working with customs before, but a genuine interest in customs and processes is a must.
- Fluent in English and Swedish, written and spoken
- Good knowledge in Excel
