About ESS
The European Spallation Source (ESS) is a European Research Infrastructure Consortium (ERIC), a multi-disciplinary research facility based on the world´s most powerful neutron source. Their vision is to build and operate the world´s most powerful neutron source, enabling scientific breakthroughs in research related to materials, energy, health and the environment, and addressing some of the most important societal challenges of our time.
Description of the division
The Finance & Business Control division, one of the divisions with Project Support and Administration Directorate, currently consists of 12 staff and is responsible for the following major areas:
• Finance - which includes accounting, receivables, payment and delivering the annual report.
• Planning & Control - which includes project management processes and skills, as well as supporting the different ESS projects and units with all between short-term analyses, budgets to long term planning
• Cash Management - which includes liquidity planning, indexation and currency exposure, *Insurances - which includes management of insurances
In addition to the above, the Finance & Business control division also supports the Director General in the management of the total cost, schedule and risk for the construction and operations of the ESS facility and is responsible for external project and financial reporting.

Description of main responsibilities
The position is new and you will have a great possibility to develop the role together with te colleagues within the team. ESS is a continuously transforming organization and you will be part of this development.
Your main responsibilities will be:
• Drive planning, forecasting and follow-up of financing cash-flow of ESS. This include contacts with members states and other external stakeholders
• Establish, maintain and monitor relevant KPI´s and indicators for ESS financial planning.
• Suggest and implement improvements measures primarily in the field of budgets and financing.
In addition to the above you will also work, together with the business controllers and finance team with various tasks and projects including but not limited to international VAT, Asset management and financial treatment of in-Kind contributions.
Qualifications
• Relevant degree (Bachelor or Master) in accounting of finance.
• Minimum of 10 years´ experience, whereof at least a few years´ experience from the financial sector.
• Passion for numbers, reporting, analyzing and presenting resultants
• Experience of working in an international environment is essential
• Excellent oral and written English skills are prerequisite; knowledge of other European languages would be a clear advantage
• Previous experience of developing and implementing routines and processes for cost control, budgeting and forecasting is advantageous.
