Arbetsbeskrivning
The European Spallation Source ERIC (ESS) in Lund, Sweden, is one of the largest science and technology infrastructure projects being built today. The project includes the most powerful linear proton accelerator ever built, a five-tonne, helium-cooled tungsten target wheel, 15 state-of-the-art neutron instruments, a suite of laboratories, and a supercomputing data management and software development centre. In the context of its history and future as a scientific organisation, however, it is more than the sum of its parts. It is a brand new Big Science organisation and we are building it from the ground up.
Come and build the future of Science with us!
About the role
ESS is now in search of a Fire and Sprinkler Technician for our Site & Building Maintenance Group, within the Operations and Machine Directorate. The group, consisting of five members of staff, is a central support function for the entire ESS organisation and provides service and maintenance of the ESS plant in relation to buildings and landscape, within budget, according to schedule, and with the proper function and quality.
The key tasks and responsibilities for our new Fire and Sprinkler Technician will include inspection, testing and maintenance within Fire Safety, i.e. fire alarms, sprinklers, fire water and smoke shutters. It will also include inspection, testing and maintenance within Communication systems, i.e. mobile and radio. As system owner of the Fire and Safety systems our new technician will be responsible for development, integration, modification, and maintenance of the owned system, including that it meets safety, permits, operability, performance and availability requirements. You will also establish and maintain necessary agreements to ensure long-term availability of resources needed to operate the systems within ESS.
This is a permanent, full-time position placed in Lund, Sweden, and we need someone who can start as soon as practically possible. Probationary period six months.
About you
To be successful in this position we believe that you have proven training and/or experience within fire safety or comparable area. Maybe you currently work as a facility manager, property technician or electrician, and have taken courses in the fire and sprinkler area. We are open to various options and look forward to receiving relevant applications!
It is a requirement that you know a fire alarm system, preferrably Schrack. You need to be able to read, understand and handle Swedish documentation, rules and regulations. Fluency in both written and spoken Swedish and English is a requirement. You are accustomed to using various IT tools, e.g. an EAM system. It is also useful if you have experience from a facility similar to ESS, and from working in an international context. A driving license is required.
As a person you enjoy communicating and collaborating with a large number of internal and external stakeholders, such as our Environment, Safety, Health and Security Division and our First Responders Group, in addition to external service providers. Some of the tasks above require coordinating with colleagues and others, meaning having organisational skills and ability to initiate action is important. Flexibility and patience in combination with firmness may sometimes also be required.

Aside from the chance to work at a truly unique big science project, you can also expect:
• An opportunity to contribute to the future discoveries within neutron science.
• A stunning, brand new workplace filled with innovative minds and brilliant people from across the globe.
