First CFD Analysis Engineer - Contamination

The Contamination and Core CFD section, belonging to Environment & Fluid Dynamics department, has a long tradition of using CFD as a tool for engineering and design processes. We are currently 16 persons working within the areas; contamination (exterior soiling and water management) & cleaning (windscreen wiper and washer system). We also support our sister sections Thermodynamics and Aerodynamics with analysis and method development know-how. The Cleaning/Contamination part of the section are responsible for attribute requirements, planning and performing both CFD analysis and physical test in all phases of vehicle programs, both individually and in teams.
As a First CFD Analysis Engineer within the Contamination section you will be involved in planning and performing CFD analysis in all phases of vehicle programs as well as support and involvement in our physical testing in our wind tunnels. You will also lead/support the attribute CFD method development to meet our future challenges. You will establish and develop relationships with representatives from many areas of the vehicle meaning you will build and maintain a wide personal network within Volvo Car Group. Main responsibilities
* Plan and perform Contamination CFD simulations and give recommendation of design changes to reach Cleaning/Contaminations requirement targets
* Develop CAE working processes, CFD methods and tools within the area cleaning/contamination (splash/wading simulations, particle simulations, wiper and washer system, windscreen and head lamp cleaning)
* Lead and carry out our CFD method development of new advanced methods (snow, gravel and water management simulations)
* Strengthen the product impact by means of CFD
* Supervising thesis workers and act as a mentor for new employees
* Review/update our requirements and CFD methods
Required qualifications
* MSc within Fluid Dynamics or Applied Physics Engineering or equivalent experience in combination with a BSc.
* At least 1-3 years of industrial and/or academic experience in CFD
* Experience in more than one of the following softwares: Fluent, STAR-CCM+, OpenFoam, Harpoon, ANSA, Matlab
* Drivers license B
* Ph.D in Fluid Dynamics is meritorious
* Experience in programming/scripting is meritorious
* Knowledge within Abaqus is meritorious
* Experience from automotive CFD including at least one of the following attributes are highly meritorious; contamination, aerodynamics, thermodynamics, climate comfort and aero acoustics
