Tetra Pak is now looking for a Food Scientist & A-Lab Leader who will manage the Accelerator lab. Your key stakeholders will be Tetra Pak’s customers as well as internal organisations. In this position you will have an important functional responsibility while managing the A-Lab team.


The position is based in Lund, Sweden and reports to the Customer Experience Manager. Travelling for this role amounts to approximatively 15%.

What you will do
As our Food Scientist & A-Lab Leader, you will be the leader of and accountable for the Accelerator Lab’s operation and maintenance.


Main responsibilities
Accountable for licenses for the Accelerator Lab’s operation and maintenance
Report lab’s products and services for internal and external presentations
Design, create, manage, and maintain relevant operations and services as per market needs
Responsible for the design of customer sessions (Travels may apply)
Accountable and responsible for Food Prototyping and Food Safety
Design model formulations and update the database
Responsible and accountable for trials in the lab and mini-UHT rig
Manage the lab’s operational budget
Manage required SOPs for Analytical Testing, Sensory, HACCP and GMP for Food Prototyping
Responsible for the Health & Safety of all workers inside the lab
Manage the activities of summer workers, Future talents (Tetra Pak’s Trainees), and Master Students

Who you are
We believe you have a bachelor’s degree in engineering or food technology, as well as a Post grad degree within Food Science, Gastronomy, Nutrition, Biochemical, Microbiology, or related disciplines. FEANI membership is a plus. You have a strong understanding of the principles of food chemistry and food ingredient functionalities. To be successful in this position, you need to have product development experience from the food industry as well as previous experience in Food & Beverage Manufacturing facilities in supporting scale up of prototypes to manufacturing and optimization of process. You have knowledge within the field of Sensory Analysis, and you are familiar with design thinking, rapid prototyping, and proof of concept approaches. Previous experience with plant-based products and/or UHT products is meritorious.


The professional skills needed in this role, besides to be customer centric, is strategic thinking and ability to explain / translate food science language into consumer / marketing language. You have a “Can-do attitude” and the ability to work with team overseas as well as adapt to different situations, prioritize, and manage projects independently; you are proactive, ready to embrace and deliver change. You are curious in learning, in specially how to process different kinds of food.
Furthermore, you have strong communication skills and feel comfortable managing and influencing cross-functional stakeholders. You feel energized when presenting findings to customers. Fluency in written and spoken English is a requirement.
