Duties:
Each vessel is operated as a project, which is led by a project manager together with several employees. Everything from controller to you as foreman and to workers / subcontractors in production.
The pace is high, and each project lasts an average of 7 to 10 days. As a foreman in steel department, you are a vital part of our business. Your duties are to plan, lead and distribute the work in the steel department and be involved in solving problems that may arise during ongoing projects. You are responsible for your team, which for the most part consists of subcontractors but also own employees in the department.
Your duties will include pre-planning, resource planning, execution, and feedback. You have frequent contact with project managers, other foremen and subcontractors. Even though everyone has their strict roles with their tasks, the feeling is that we work in an informal organization. We help where needed.
Your background:
We expect high knowledge regarding steelworks and welding in ship repair and at least 5 years of experience as a foreman or similar management. We also assume that you are a problem solver with a strong drive of your own and you like to be operational when needed. Furthermore, you must be results-oriented. You must be a good leader who is socially competent, as you must be able to lead and create relationships with the entire international business chain (from senior executives to subcontractors) in general and with project managers, customers and classification societies in particular. We expect you as a foreman to be present during ongoing projects and create trust among your teams and other colleagues in the company. English both verbal and writing is required. It is an advantage if you can speak any other language, such as Swedish, Polish or Rumanian for example.
