The group Stamping CAE & Die development includes 18 persons totally, of which 10 persons are working as analysis engineers with sheet metal forming simulations. The department is responsible for all CAE stamping feasibility simulations performed within Volvo Car Group and part of Stamping Engineering Section within the Manufacturing Group (ME).
As Forming Analysis Engineer you will work in close cooperation with the die process engineer in order to develop stamping processes to secure that the stamped parts are feasible, globally. We work in all new car projects; currently we are handling around 250 die sets yearly. The responsibility starts with support to styling in early project phases and generally ends when the manufacturing of the dies starts. We also support with second line analysis if problems occur during running production. To secure a continuous development of the competence and the ability to have valid results from simulation we follow up the results with the die shop and identify areas for improvements. We are using CATIA V5 to model the processes and we use AutoForm R5.2 or higher as software for the sheet metal forming simulation and evaluation of the result.
You will be able to develop your own skills, both technically with deep knowledge in sheet metal behaviour as well as in the area of process planning. Main responsibilities

* Give feedback and propose solutions regarding stamping feasibility problems
* Support the die process engineer with technical expertise regarding sheet metal forming knowledge, material knowledge, material utilisation
* Secure the quality of the simulation results (i.e. follow up results during tryout)
* Secure the stamping feasibility using AutoForm
* Secure a good cooperation with the die process engineer
* Ability to solve advanced problems in a structured way
* You are the go-to-person regarding stamping feasibility

Required qualifications

* Experience in CATIA V5 advanced surface modelling
* Experience and understanding from sheet metal forming simulation
* Sheet metal forming knowledge and understanding
* Die process engineering regarding "thin sheet" applications i.e. automotive parts
* Experience from Finite Element Model Calculation
* Good skills in English, written and spoken
* University degree within mechanical engineering preferably B.Sc. or equivalent education is meritorious
* Good skills in Swedish, written and spoken is meritorious
