Purpose of the role
· To enhance and grow the technical capability within the team, mentoring and supporting formulation chemists.
· driving innovation across product portfolio by proposing strategic initiatives and projects, and identifying the appropriate in-house or external partners
· bridging upstream initiatives (from Skin Research Institute) with NPD launch plan.

What will you do?
Formulation Innovation Strategy & Program:
· Delivers and Implements SKC Formulation Innovation strategy in line with strategic direction of R&D and business
· Assesses portfolio, identifies gaps and proposes projects to design new textures, new active delivery systems, new ways to stabilize actives.
· Formulates pre-prototypes
Formulation Excellence (Capability, Mentoring):
· Builds a strong Formulation team culture and identity particular skills and interests of the team
· Responsible for shifting the team focus to support and embed the “Invest and Focus” technology strategy
· Builds and develop the right expertise within the team to deliver strategy through hands on technical upskilling and tailored learning events for the chemists
· Support Formulation Chemists in defining formulation route and risk management plan
Insights:
· Analysis of Literature, Competitor and Raw material trends to create new textures and formats to meet regional needs
· Drives translation and utilisation of technical insights in the creation of new Innovation projects
Open Innovation:
· Identifies innovation opportunities and runs projects with external partners: raw materials suppliers, universities, third party labs.
Communicating Expertise:
· Collaborates and supports the business as In-house / Go-To expert in Skincare formulation, cooperating with multiple functions such as Insights, Marketing, Education, Digital.
· Communicates externally (conferences, fairs etc) and releases publications & articles to build and strengthen the skincare scientific presence of Oriflame in the industry

Does this describe you?
· Strong in leading and motivating scientific teams with different disciplines
· Extensive knowledge in Skincare Formulation (preferably Emulsions and complex systems) and Physico-chemistry
· Knowledge of global skincare market (preferably Asia)
· Knowledge in Innovation process, preferably Agile / Design thinking methodologies
· Self-motivated and capable of working on own initiative
· Team player
· Embraces change
· Strong problem-solving abilities
· Excellent communication skills connecting to all levels of report, and translating science in an easy to understand and appealing way to Marketing teams and consultants
· Result oriented

Your background and your qualifications
· Degree qualification (MSc or pHD) in a relevant scientific discipline
· Minimum 10 years’ experience in cosmetic formulation and in particular skincare products
· Thorough technical knowledge of relevant technologies.
· Proven track record for success in driving technical innovation a fast-paced formulation development environment
· Professional written and verbal communication skills in English
