Four postdoc positions on adaptation of forestry to climate changes The Southern Swedish Forest Research Centre (www.ess.slu.se) belongs to the Faculty of Forestry at the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences and is located in Alnarp, southern Sweden.At present, the department consists of 33 employees, including 20 senior and postdoc scientists and some 10 PhD students.Research and teaching is carried out within silviculture, forestry planning, economics and forest ecology. We now would like to expand our research group with four postdocs within the field of adaptation of forestry to climate changes The four postdocs will together with a co-ordinator form a team of researchers working within the same research field but on different tasks.Each postdoc will be associated with one of the four research groups at the department.The four positions are announced in: (1) Formulation and evaluation of consistent scenarios for direct and indirect effects of climate changes on the provision of goods and services from the forest.The successful applicant will hold a PhD in natural resource management, economics, or other relevant discipline.Experience from systems analysis and/or forest resource modeling is beneficial.Ref.No.4118/07 (2) Evaluation of different silvicultural treatments within continuous cover forestry under the influence of climate changes and in comparison with the clear-felling system which is dominant in Swedish forestry today.Empirical methods and/or simulations using available and new production models can be used.The successful applicant will hold a PhD in silviculture.Experience from research on continuous cover forestry is beneficial.Ref.No.4119/07 (3) Analysis of effects of climate changes on biodiversity, directly or indirectly.The latter could be because of society's adaptation, for instance through an increasing demand for biofuels.The successful applicant will hold a PhD in biology or other relevant discipline.Ref.No.4120/07 (4) Welfare economic analysis of different dimensions of the multiple-use of forests, such as climate changes and recreation or biodiversity.The successful applicant will hold a PhD in natural resource economics or environmental economics.Experience from valuation of non-market goods and services is beneficial.Ref.No.4121/07 The positions are for two years each and with at least 80% of the time available for research.The starting date is negotiable, but preferably at May 1, 2008.Applications written in English (a complete application for each position) and marked with the appropriate reference number should at least include a curriculum vitae (incl.a complete list of publications), a brief description of research interests, copies of degrees and transcripts of academic records, and at least two letters of reference from persons familiar with the applicant's qualifications.The application must have arrived at the Registrar of SLU, P.O.
