Karolinska Institutet is one of the four founding universities for the Science for Life Laboratory (SciLifeLab), which is today’s Sweden national infrastructure and research center in technology driven life science.
At the Department of Oncology-Pathology basic, translational and clinical research and educational activities related to cancer is carried out. Approximately 300 people from over 40 nations are currently working at the department. About 30 research groups with various cancer research profiles are involved and we have around 110 PhD students. The Department of Oncology-Pathology is responsible for undergraduate courses in Pathology, Oncology and Forensic Medicine for medical students, as well as for Tumor biology courses for biomedicine students and Pathology courses for opticians.
The position will be placed in the group headed by Professor Janne Lehtiö at SciLifeLab. This is a translational group of scientists from various disciplines with a drive to develop new omics technologies to study the molecular profile of tumors and improve personalized cancer treatments. Your mission
The candidate will complement the current staff working in the Molecular Tumor Board Portal (MTBP), an academic clinical decision support system that interprets the molecular profiles of tumor cells and reports back the results to medical teams. The employment is a temporary position of 1 year.
We are looking for a front-end developer for the following tasks:
- - Develop and integrate visual tools to communicate results to medical teams.
- - Improve existing frontend interfaces to better support current and future projects.
- - Document, maintain and troubleshoot front-end issues.
- - Collaborate and communicate with the MTBP team and third parties.
Your profile
The candidate should prove experience in the following:
- - Proficiency in HTML, CSS, JavaScript
- - jQueryHTML and CSS knowledge
- - Javascript frameworks (e.g. React, Angular, Vue)
- - Producing visualizations of scientific data
- - Use of database systems (e.g. SQL, Mongo, Postgres)
- - Ability to discern good web design and develop features to enhance the users’ experience
- - PHP knowledge
And to a lesser extent:
- - Use of Version Control tools (e.g. Git)
- - Experience with graphic design applications (e.g. Adobe Creative suite, Figma, Inkplot, Gimp)
- - Remote server management
- - Familiar with containerization (e.g. Docker, Singularity)
- - Comfortable working in Unix/Linux environments
The candidate should also have excellent communication and collaborative skills. A degree in Computer Science, Bioinformatic, Molecular Biology or Web design related disciplines is a plus.
