WHAT UTOPIANS DO

We are building a better world for music with innovative big data technology that tracks online music sources and translates them into meaningful music consumption reports for royalty collection. The solution we’re building does not threaten to usurp the role of industry incumbents - it is about bringing transparency in the industry and supporting efficient royalty collection.

WHAT YOUR ROLE WILL BE

Utopia Music is on a lookout for a Front-end Web Developer that will produce visual elements of Utopia's sites, online advertising and other digital interactive assets by translation of the UI/UX design wireframes to actual code. Fundamental part of the role is understanding the purpose and elements of visual design and how it reflects on programming. You'll work with the UI/UX designer and bridge the gap between visual design and technical implementation, taking an active role on both sides and defining how the application looks as well as how it works.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

- Developing new user-facing features (we're into most groundbreaking and extraordinary ideas!)
- Building reusable code and libraries for future us
- Ensuring the technical feasibility of visual and interaction design
- Optimizing pieces of code for maximum speed and scalability
- Assuring that all user input is validated before submitting to back-end
- Collaborating with other team members and stakeholders


THE IDEAL SKILLSET

- Proficient understanding of web markup, including HTML5, CSS
- Basic understanding of server-side CSS pre-processing platforms, such as LESS and SAS
- Proficient understanding of client-side scripting and JavaScript frameworks, including jQuery
- Good understanding of asynchronous request handling, partial page updates, and AJAX
- Basic knowledge of image authoring tools, to be able to crop, resize, or perform small adjustments on an image. Familiarity with tools such as as Figma, Sketch or Photoshop is a plus
- Good understanding of SEO principles
