The Department of Materials and Manufacturing Technology now seeks a new Professor in Manufacturing Technology with emphasis on Science and Technology of Metal Cutting. The professor is expected to be a core expert for the profile Sustainable Manufacturing Processes. The announced position connects in particular to the Area of Advance Production.
Major responsibilities
It is expected that the professor will be the scientific and strategic leader of the Group of Manufacturing Technology and the Metal Cutting Research and Development Centre (MCR). You are expected to be an international expert in the Science and Technology of Metal Cutting and have the necessary pedagogical leadership to develop the Group of Manufacturing Technology into an internationally leading group. You are expected to develop attractive courses and supervise PhD and master students. Other important aspects of the position are information and communication about research and current development, the planning of research projects and cooperation within academia and society at large.

Qualification?
The scientific merits should be of relevance for the research profile of metal cutting, while showing also the capability of scientific and pedagogical leadership of manufacturing technology. You must be a skilled educator and accustomed to teaching on different levels. We therefore place a great deal of emphasis on your pedagogical portfolio.
Qualifications regarding obtaining funding must be well demonstrated as well as cooperation with industry and other organisations. You should have the competence and qualifications to be a strategic leader and have the interest and capability to develop the research group and the MCR centre to internationally leading positions. You should have the capacity of international recognition in the field of focus and be able to show how your efforts are placed in a context of sustainable production.
It is expected that the holder of this position should be able to teach and communicate both in English and Swedish. If Swedish is not your native language, you should be able to communicate in Swedish after two years. Chalmers offers Swedish courses.
