Full professor/Associate professor in Indoor environment and climate technology
Information about the research and the department
The Division of Building Services Engineering is one of the seven research divisions within the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering. Building Services Engineering has a dedicated and balanced staff of senior teachers, researchers and PhD students (employed and external), and a well equipped laboratory.
Building Services Engineering comprises the requirements on the indoor environment, such as thermal comfort, air quality, etc. It also includes design of the technical systems for heating, ventilation and air coonditioning (HVAC), including components and control systems. Furthermore, Building Services Engineering also comprises the requirements on building energy performance, as well as energy supply systems (district heating, heat pumps, solar energy, etc.) to the extent their designs are influenced by the technical systems in the building or vice versa. Building Services Engineering is based on basic thermodynamics, heat transfer, fluid dynamics and psychrometrics. Our main focus is the indoor environment and energy used in buildings, but our education and research also covers other spaces that need a certain indoor environment, e.g. cars, operating theaters, etc.
Our teaching and research involves all topics mentioned above. Our courses are taught in one engineering programme (3 years) and in two master programmes (2 years). On average, one PhD candidate graduates within Building Services Engineering per year; this is intended to be kept or increased.
