This is us, your new colleagues
At Electromobility we develop systems for energy storage, charging, power distribution and conversion and electric propulsion to electrify products within the Volvo Group: Trucks, buses, construction equipment etc.
The ESS Controls group is responsible for Multi-pack battery management software used in all Volvos’ electric products, such as, busses, trucks, construction equipment, and marine applications. Organizationally we belong to Electromobility, which was formed to be in the forefront of environmentally friendly transport solutions for a more sustainable tomorrow.
Teamwork and collaboration are the foundation of great products and an attractive workplace. Therefore, we work in cross-functional teams of 4-8 colleagues with complementary skills committed to a common purpose. Each team plan their work and deliver solutions together according to SAFe and Agile methods. The responsibility covers the full product life cycle, from design and software implementation to verification and maintenance in customer end products.


Who are you?
We are looking for a software engineer who is highly collaborative. You understand embedded function development and strict coding rules. You also value the customer’s perspective and high expectations using Volvo’s premium products in their daily businesses. You have experience from the automotive industry, embedded system or software development. Understanding how to work in an agile organization is also essential.
In the daily work you need to grasp over a wide technical area where knowledge of automotive, embedded systems, batteries, electric machines, charging system, testing and verification are great assets. There will be opportunities to become a specialist in one of the areas. We work mainly in an office environment, but often test our functions in real vehicles.


In addition, we believe you have the following:
Master of Science in control systems, mechatronics, electrical engineering, signal processing, or engineering physics.
Strong aptitude in abstract thinking, rigorous mathematical modeling, system theoretic analysis, and model-based control design.
High proficiency in MATLAB and Simulink based modelling/analysis.
Some experience with embedded software development for control applications.
Fluent in both written and spoken English.
6-10 years of experience from Embedded software development design & development
