The opportunity
We're currently looking for a Function Owner for Autonomous Drive. Someone to join our AD/ADAS team in order to drive the future of autonomous driving at Polestar. We're part of an exciting journey that will soon redefine mobility. As we approach production start, we need a dedicated Function Owner for Autonomous Drive who can lead us through this pivotal phase. This role offers a unique chance to shape both our organization and technology choices as Polestar enters a period of intensive production launches over the next three years and beyond.
You’ll be part of a team of 12 engineers including Function Owners for AD/ADAS, where you report to the Manager of this team who also has the tech and delivery responsibility.
This position is located at HQ in Gothenburg. We believe in a hybrid model when it comes to remote and onsite work, knowing that both in-person collaboration and individual time to focus are needed. What matters most is that people get the time, and support, to do what needs to be done. And to enjoy doing it, of course.
The responsibilities
In this role, you'll be expected to stay up-to-date on the latest Autonomous Drive (AD) technologies and innovations. Working as a member of AD/ADAS, you'll be instrumental and play a crucial role in sourcing AD systems for our cutting-edge vehicles. See below for a more thorough breakdown of the various tasks and areas you'll be responsible for:
- Conduct competitor analysis and benchmarking to maintain Polestar's leadership in AD development
- Act as the spokesperson for Autonomous Drive at Polestar
- Monitor, review, and evaluate deliveries from our AD suppliers
- Create and own functional specifications and requirements for AD functions
- Contribute to the development of safety concepts and intended function approaches
- Develop Verification and Validation (V&V) methods for AD.
The ideal candidate
To succeed in this role, and at Polestar in general, you'll need to possess the following characteristics: tenacity, flexibility, curiosity, and the ability to take initiative, meet deadlines, and pivot when needed. In addition, you'll need the following qualifications:
- Deep expertise and domain knowledge in AD/ADAS systems, with documented previous experience in AD development at a global OEM
- Master of Science in Engineering or higher education
- Knowledge of automotive electrical architecture, including decentralized and centralized computing as well as strong grasp of software architecture and different software layers
- Familiarity with ECUs and sensors
- Proficiency in network technologies such as CAN, Flexray, LIN, and Ethernet
- Understanding of System Safety, Safety of the Intended Function (SOTIF), and Cybersecurity
