Functional Safety Analyst Automated Drive

Volvo Car Group aims for leadership in Automated Driving and Active Safety. Self-driving vehicles is the next step in Volvo Car Corporation's development of the world's safest cars. The department "Active Safety" is responsible all the way from research and advanced engineering to implementation, verification and validation of current and future customer offers. We are strongly focused on our vision to make cars that do not crash.
The group Strategy & Concepts and Advanced Engineering consists of 20 persons. We lead and perform research and advanced engineering activities in the area of active safety, driver support and connectivity. Our ongoing projects include next generation active safety systems, highly automated driving technology, and connectivity solutions. About 1/3 of the group members have a Ph. D degree. There are both project-leading roles and roles for dedicated specialists and "doers" in order to create a creative mix of competencies that can deliver innovations and future concepts. We typically work in the timeframe 2 to 6 years before production, so be prepared to think ahead. Creating new solutions will require new thinking. The work environment is agile, challenging and dynamic.
As a Functional Safety Analyst Automated Drive you will be part of a cross-functional team dedicated to bring highly automated driving to the market. Your main responsibility is to perform functional safety analysis on the design of a self-driving car, and propose countermeasures. Your scope will be the complete self-driving system, including sensors, algorithms, software, communication, power supply, and actuators. Also the interfaces to the driver, to surrounding vehicles and humans, and to a cloud database is within your scope. Current automotive methods and standards (i.e. ISO26262) are necessary but may not be sufficient for self-driving vehicle development. You will have to engage in cutting edge method development.
Required qualifications
* Master of Science exam (preferably Ph. D)
* Work experience from functional safety in automotive, robotics or aerospace industry. Knowledge of relevant standards and methods, i.e. IEC 61508, and ISO 26262.
* Driver's license
Meritorious:
* PhD degree in a relevant area
* Experience with active safety and driver support development
* Experience from development of automotive electrical systems.
* Experience from functional safety in automotive brake, steering- or powertrain systems.
* Experience from cross-functional work with suppliers, OEMs, academia and authorities
Personal qualities
