System engineer system safety for Traction Battery Controls


ART Traction Battery Software (ATBSW) is one of the most important players in enabling the transition to electric propulsion of our vehicles and contribute to Volvo Cars vision to give our customers freedom to move in a personal, sustainable and safe way. We take part in enabling the next generation of state-of-the-art electric vehicles


At ART Traction Battery SW we are responsible to develop SW systems for all our electrical vehicles. You will be part of an system team that takes the overall responsibility for the Battery Management System. The work includes participating in function realisation and system design, primarily for functional safety (ISO26262) or safety related functionality realised by the battery management system, including contactor controls, isolation monitoring, HVIL, cell/module parameter sensing and hardware diagnostics. The team is also responsible for SW/HW requirements breakdown including alignment regarding system safety and new system requirements. As part of the team you will also be expected to support the long term strategy and concepts within the ART.


Main responsibilities:


• SW/HW requirements breakdown including distributing and communication the requirements in collaboration with other teams within the ART
• Secure alignment within the ART regarding system safety and new system requirements
• Review of relevant safetydocuments such as manuals & requirements for BMS system
• Approval of test results if required from system test team
• Review DFMEA & FMEDA from supplier


Required qualifications:


• Experience from system and functional development preferable within Traction Battery
• Experience from working with Traction Battery & especially Battery Management System (BMS)
• Fluent in English (written and spoken).
• Deep knowledge within system safety & ISO 26262
• Experience from agile ways of working including SAFE
