The group System Safety Strategies within Volvo powertrain is responsible to facilitate the development of Functional Safety work products including Item Definition, Hazard Analysis and Risk Assessment, Functional Safety Concept, Technical Safety Concept, and Verification and Validation for new and existing transmission and driveline technologies. We are shared service and belong to hybrid propulsion but work cross-functional and support number of ARTs within different product streams (e.g. Transmission, Hybrid Propulsion, Electric Propulsion, Autonomous Drive, Vehicle Energy Motion Control) for all safety activities.
What you’ll do
As Functional Safety Manager ( also called System Safety Engineer/SSE) within System Safety Strategies, you will be involved in all levels of product development from participating in strategic planning for the group, partner/suppliers selection, review System Safety Statement of Work(SS-SOW), initial concept design and stages of development (A,B and C samples) through to production launch. As a member in shared service within agile organisation, you will support solutions hybrid and electric propulsion by all system safety activities. It will involve interfacing with a variety of teams including electrical engineering and mechanical engineering as well as customers, suppliers and technical partners.
In this role you will support and perform various safety analyses at the system, hardware and software level. You will collaborate with design teams in the design of effective technical solutions aimed to achieve adequate robustness at systems, hardware and software architectural level.
* Drive the development of functional and technical safety concepts within the subsystems, software, and hardware
* Lead functional safety engineering activities for product development teams and develop technical work products
* Documenting the system safety activities and work products in a Safety Case
* Develop and integrate Functional Safety standards and industry common practices into corporate processes according to ISO 26262
Writing safety case, project safety plan and conducting system safety joint review
Do you fit the profile?
We think you have a M.Sc. or B.Sc. within Electrical, Mechanical, Applied Physics, Mechatronic Engineering or similar. You are fluent in English, both spoken and written.
You have knowledge about safety activities and deliveries according to ISO 26262 and also about system and function design for automotive industry. You have documented experience of working with safety case and safety plan according to ISO 26262 and are familiarity with OEM functional safety process including FMEA, FTA, DIA, Safety validation etc.
Having “functional safety ISO 26262 certification “is a plus. Knowledge about SOTIF (ISO 21448) & ASPICE (ISO 15504) is a plus.
You need to be analytical and structured and have a positive and open minded attitude. You will use your communication and teamwork skills when building networks.
